    Your longest trip point-to-point?

LGW-MCO-DFW-LAX-AKL-SYD-BNE. All Y, no stop overs, mostly different airlines. It was very early in my career and started as 2-3 day project in Sydney, then to the US for a project for a few weeks... then I was asked to go the UK for another short project. I was too junior to push back, and the...

Thoughts on North Face Rolling Thunder 28"?

Domestic checked bag total dimensions on QF, JQ and VA is 140cm (width+height+depth of your bag). The North Face one you linked to is 158cm, so will be oversized. I've seen plenty of people checking in sports kit bags that looked above 140cm total (e.g. cricket kit bags), so perhaps it's not...

    Sofitel Melbourne Buffet Breakfast Review?

So it's your wedding night stay and you're asking about breakfast? All you'll want to do is sleep in, order room service and check out as late as possible because you'll be exhausted from the wedding day.

Thoughts on North Face Rolling Thunder 28"?

Assuming this is for international travel only? It's too big for domestic and on a bad day you'll get charged for oversized luggage. I have a non-wheeled North Face duffle and a Patagonia. I prefer the zippers and layout of the Patagonia, so you might want to check them out too.

    Travel-sized cosmetics

I've been using these lately for shaving cream and toothpaste. https://www.wildearth.com.au/buy/matador-refillable-toothpaste-tubes-2-pack/MATTT2001BKW

Best Accor hotel in Melbourne cbd?

We stayed in winter and the pool was nice and warm. However, the pool area isn't fully enclosed so you're exposed to the outside temperatures. The sauna was great if you're into that.

Lounge etiquette - sleeping in lounges

I recently had an early morning flight out of Changi and only had access to the Marhaba lounge. It was around 6:00am and the lounge was full of people using 2-4 chairs to create makeshift beds, no shoes on, some in sleepwear. Many came prepared with their own blankets and blankets. There was...

What's a forgotten item a security has found in your bag?

I was perfectly fine with disposing of the little scissors, but more amused wondering what damage they thought I could do with them.

What's a forgotten item a security has found in your bag?

Both are not 'forgotten' but unexpected. 1. I recently pulled aside for not taking my aerosol out of my bag at MEL - my Ventolin inhaler. I have never removed it from my bag in all the years that separating aerosols have been a requirement. 2. I was pulled aside because of the scissors in my...

Carry on board duffel bag advice?

One more option for you. I have the older version of this for my gym bag on office days where I need to also carry the laptop, shoes, change of clothes, toiletry bag etc. It should be easy to pick up in Perth. https://www.lululemon.com.au/en-au/p/command-the-day-duffle-bag-40l/prod11380383.html

Carry on board duffel bag advice?

I've had the older 25l Blackhole backpack for a few years now. It's been beaten up but still looks good. I do like the new matte finish on the new ones. I thought I was the only one with a bag problem... What breaks it for me at my place is when my storage box of bags starts overflowing...

Carry on board duffel bag advice?

The Patagonia store confirmed with me that they 're-rated' the bag from 26l to 30l with no changes. It is a very difficult bag to get. I had my name on a list at Wildearth, Paddy Pallin, Packlight and Patagonia. Patagonia do regularly get stock in and it goes to those on the list, however you...

Carry on board duffel bag advice?

Bellroy have a 35l and 45l version. I recently bought a backpack from them, but will be returning it for one of these duffels. For some strange reason, their Transit backpack that is made for HLO travel doesn't have a suitcase handle passthrough...

QFF Bonus Status Credits/Points gift on back of Aug 2023 profit

Yes, but what if it's based on activity date and not the transaction date? Could the activity could be dated as 30 August, causing them to expire on Sept 1? I have an August program end date so unsure what I'll do because the SC boost for the new year would be nice.

    Good NC headphones

AirPods and similar fall out of my ears when side sleeping. The Beats Fit Pros don't because they have 'wings' that secure them in my ear. The comfort depends... sometimes I'm fine with it, other times not. One upside is you can buy them from Apple and return within 2 weeks if they don't work...

    Good NC headphones

I find the same and use my Bose QC's when I'm awake and in ear ones when I'm sleeping. I recently switched over to Beats Fit Pros because they stay in my ear better than the AirPods Pro.

    Gold Coast Rumour.......or not ?

Conrad would be my guess too. I agree, Accor already have too many properties on the Gold Coast. Mariners Cove, next to the Versace property is being developed into a Ritz-Carlton and super yacht marina. The Sheraton Grand property across from the Versace is for sale so perhaps Marriott will...

Best Accor hotel in Melbourne cbd?

I like the Movenpick Hotel. The gym is average but the pool is amazing for a CBD hotel. There is a Goodlife gym just a short walk through the station that allows casual visits.

    Japan Tourism for independent travellers

We managed to secure decent flights on QF for the Sept / Oct school holidays. It will be my first time back to Japan for a long time and a first for the rest of the family. Does anyone have opinions on the following hotels? Tokyo: Keio Plaza or Hyatt Regency Shinjuku Kyoto: Dhawa Yura...
