Thanks for the reply, tried Qantas call centre again got HBA got assigned some seats from their end further down the plane. Went back to CX website and as I had an assigned seat I could now select any seat in the cabin so all good now.

JASA back in 2014 Mel-Syd-Asp-Syd-Mel same crew, even the pilots and same seat . They let me keep everything on board while I stretched my legs around the airport in Alice.

I have my lucky woolen jumper (since 2010) that has just this year gone into retirement. It was looking just a little too tired to be acceptable. New one currently being broken in.

I'm not terribly good at all. In Y 30 minutes of sleep in every 120 minutes. On a lie flat maybe 2-3 hour blocks. No alcohol in flight helps as the need to go to the toilet is reduced that disturbs me the most.

Good luck with any recognition, went in Feb this year in a junior suite as a Gold. No upgrade, no welcome gift/amenity. But had no problems checking in downstairs.

Agree with @Austman just set up camp in one of the restaurants airside they are reasonably priced and sometimes less crowded than the very ordinary lounges.

No problems getting into EK lounge did so in October, but it did close about 30minutes before my QF flight so switched lounges for the little bit of time

Did this last September, was second train of the morning as was the cheapest available time of the day. Security and passport was fairly quick and effortless but once inside it was as described a bit of a zoo. But the trip is so short the standard seats were fine.
