So today was the second day in a row I drove my EV to a BP station to buy a donut. I'll be doing the same tomorrow to complete the 3 x 400 bonus points challenge.
The things we do for 10 status credits...
The only way I can make peace with these valuations is to distinguish them from market value.
AFF might value them at X cents but it doesn't mean that is what you get in the real/actual market when it comes time to earn/redeem.
I remember looking at this back in the day and if you're lucky it would work on the first airline but sometimes not at all. Depending on the route chosen or mix of airlines it might also work on the second airline. At the end of the day it is whatever the Qantas website says it is.
I want LTG for lounge access. I know that I will never be able to eat enough ham & cheese toasties in my life to recover the amount I will spend on status runs, yet I still want it anyway.
Sounds like a problem mostly for premium travellers. I think most economy travellers without lounge access would happily accept and indulge in any complimentary meal at whatever time they are offered.
One could argue that you are testing the limits of those rules by flying and crediting to separate FFP to that which you are using to gain lounge access.
One downside of booking the night before which has not already been mentioned is that it is not budget friendly although I sense that unlike for me, this is not usually an issue for most AFFers.
