Qantas to introduce hot meals and hot snacks on most domestic flights, extends tea and coffee service

I can still remember how the cabin of a TAA 727 or DC9 smelled when everyone started rolling back the foil on their breakfast surprise! I also remember a tip to the US when I was 7 or 8 and being surprised that even on longish domestic flights (the old Republic Airlines) we got given a tiny...

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

That’s a bit surprising. I haven’t seen group boarding in action on Intl flights yet, but on domestic, the scanners deny boarding and the staff point to the red light and tell people to step aside until their group is called.

Korean LCC T'Way Air to rebrand as Trinity Airlines

Hopefully the rebrand will see better alignment between premium cabin product and fares. Then I was researching this article for AFF, T’Way’s prices to ICN and beyond were pretty comparable to proper business class on legacy airline competitors. Certainly not Air AsiaX prices to sit in former...

Article: Toasties Vs a Terminal Tipple: Is Paid Lounge Membership Good Value?

A lot of third party lounges just don’t seem to care about upkeep. I was in “The House” in Sydney earlier in the year. I never saw it in its Etihad days but apparently it used to be a great lounge. Now that it’s a contract lounge, the furniture didn’t look much better than this, sadly.

Article: Toasties Vs a Terminal Tipple: Is Paid Lounge Membership Good Value?

Hahaha! It’s a little ritual to grab a couple whenever I leave the lounge to chew on on the way to the gate. Most Qantas clubs have a jar or two scattered around the lounge. I grabbed some in CBR today near the espresso machine at the bar. In SYD they are often near the DIY coffee machines and...

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

I can confirm my coaster worked fine the other day from MEL-SYD, checking in on a next gen machine … which was no less temperamental for everyone than the old ones were. I don’t think I would be game to try that. Even if the machine accepts it, the first human who encounters your bag will have...

AFF MasterClass in Sydney on Saturday, 6 September 2025

Another vote of thanks from me. I really enjoyed the day and learned a lot. @Bazzi it was lovely to meet you and share a table!

Aaaaaand QF420 just executed a go around. An exciting and fitting start to my arrival into SYD

AFF MasterClass in Sydney on Saturday, 6 September 2025

I’m on the tarmac in MEL on a delayed QF420. Need to collect luggage on arrival so might also be pushing it a bit time wise

New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

Still no email in my inbox from QF, so if it wasn't for AFF, I'd be none the wiser about this DSC offer and the other assorted bonuses. I'm also in the "yeahnah, pass" camp on this DSC round, based on the lifetime exclusion. I've easily requalified for SG this membership year but too far away...

Sydney dinner on 6 September 2025 (after the AFF MasterClass)

My flights are booked for the Masterclass but I’m an apology for dinner

    The Operational Upgrade Thread

Same here! Qantas is the airline I’ve been most “loyal” to over the years - in terms of maintaining status. Never had an OpUp on QF, but have had more op ups on other Oneworld carriers on account of my QF status

Article: Is It Worth Buying LifeMiles in 2025?

Maybe I’m in a fortunate minority, but I’ve been able to redeem LMs on quite a few trips to Europe, North America and Asia over the years, including via the good old Screenshot method (RIP). I’ve had generally ok interactions with the call centre too. Despite crackly lines and occasional...

Article: Business Class to Europe on Budget Airlines: Worth the Savings?

This is a really good point! Even more important when many LCCs only have one or two flights a week on certain routes. A bit of weather or a plane with a tech issue can have major scheduling impacts. Thanks @RooFlyer ☺️

Gone in 5 days: My Award Travel Heist

Great TR! Reading all the misadventures and lucky saves got the adrenaline going! That F lounge lentil soup looks identical to what I scooped out of the silver pot in the MEL QP the other day. Even by Qantas Club’s ever diminishing catering standards it was ordinary!

    Paper towels enhanced from lounges?

I provided two recent PNRs and within a couple of hours received this non-committal response, which reminded me a bit of how hotels respond to 3 star tripadvisor reviews. Your feedback regarding the lack of paper towels in the men's bathrooms has been noted and will be shared with the relevant...

    Paper towels enhanced from lounges?

I received an initial response from Qantas customer care within 24 hours which sounds very similar to other replies mentioned here. They also ask for my PNR. The only reason I can think of for that is for quality control to see if the paper towel complaints are coming from people who have...

    Paper towels enhanced from lounges?

I just submitted feedback via the app and look forward to the canned response. If the lounge dragons don’t look too busy next time I pass through a lounge I’ll mention it to them too. And @Seat0B yep it’s same old 1022 with a new username :-)

    Paper towels enhanced from lounges?

On my most recent flights I noticed empty tissue boxes in both MEL J lounge and SYD QP. I also observed that the two hand dryers in the gents in the MEL J lounge are placed too closely together for two people to comfortably use them simultaneously unless said gents are rather good friends...
