FWIW, the status credits for my stay in early October at a hotel booked through Qantas Hotels were booked with an early November activity date - which was a relief because my new membership year started 1 November. The points themselves had an October activity date.

When I was looking a couple of days ago, the J fares were crazy cheap - think $4.5k to AMS on OTAs. It seems they've now been fixed up as the same days now look to be almost $10k! Quite the hike over even their normal rates (possibly because the fares have only been released, but even so...)...
