Blossoms, bullet train and beyond: exploring Japan by Land and Sea.

Considering the low tide, good chance the direct ferry was not running. It can't get up river, so stops running during low tide.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I believe Schwab one is for US Citizens, the international brokerage account is open to customers from a variety of countries. From memory they sent the card after I deposited funds to the international brokerage account. Also, you don't need to deposit a minimum of US$25,000 as they claim...

Best Credit Cards for Overseas Travel & Online Shopping

Used to be better when you could deposit a positive balance on the card and withdraw cash for free overseas. They stopped allowing positive balances, but at least other debit cards allow this now.

    Chile visa application - bizarre

I applied for one last year via Canberra. Despite requesting and paying for a multi entry visa, was only given a single entry. when I raised this they said they were only giving out single entry visas and basically bad luck. Not a great experience. But Chile was a lovely place to visit.

Cruise ships leaving behind late returners

The 32kg luggage weights are based on a single person lift and rotation. I don't think anyone expects a crew member to carry an adult alone and swing them into a seat on a tender. NCL transfers to a tender that I have witnessed are normally 2 crew if physically carried and 4 crew if in a...

Cruise ships leaving behind late returners

Sure, but the late runners are not the ones who would pay for the fuel, additional port charges, extended standby tugs, late pilot etc.

Cruise ships leaving behind late returners

I have done half a dozen cruises with Norwegian, they do assist people with mobility issues to board tenders using 2 crew members. I have just looked at the FAQ, and they seem to have lowered the weight to 100lbs now. Would need to be a child or very fragile person to fall into that weight...

AFF Review: Flybondi Boeing 737-800 Economy (EZE-FTE)

Hi Matt do you speak Spanish? When we flew Flybondi in January 2023, we were removed from the exit row because we didn't speak Spanish well enough. I posted about it here their FAQ has been modified again and now states "Be able to read, understand and communicate in Spanish and English"...

Don't book exit row seats on Flybondi if you can't speak Spanish.

When we booked last year there was no mention of Spanish in the Exit Seat FAQ, or when selecting the seat during the booking process. It just had the normal over 15yo, physically fit, good hearing, not pregnant. I did tell them I understood Varmus and Rapido, but that apparently was not enough...

Don't book exit row seats on Flybondi if you can't speak Spanish.

Hi Just a heads up for anyone planning on using Budget Airline Flybondi in South America, we were denied the use of the exit row seats we had paid extra for because we did not speak Spanish. Luckily there was row 1 and 2 spare and gave us a row each in place of the exit row seats, with some...

Citibank to Exit Australian Retail Banking

I've still got a Citibank VISA cashback card. It gives me 1% back on all purchases. I use it for bills and places where I spend over $100 (otherwise I use the HSBC 2%). It was discontinued for sale maybe a decade ago. Only $79 per year. I hope it continues on.

Difficult decision re quick trip to Perth Airport from the east

I've been through this, and as DK4 said, no it is not possible. You pass through this pseudo immigration/quarantine process as you exit the Aerobridge. So you cannot enter the terminal without completing the process. Masks must be worn until exiting the terminal. There is an exception while...
