Aussie carriers that work well in the UK?

I use Amaysim for Intl roaming and can confirm they're pretty good, especially the pricing for the 12 months coverage. I don't think you could go past them, especially for the casual, occasional usage as you indicate.

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

I thought I might walk to Wolli Creek from SYD Intl a few days ago, as I had plenty of time to waste. Well, as I discovered, the route I had used many times pre-Covid had been closed off, and another route had been established, by bridge from T1. However, by the time that this had sunk in, I...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Flew MEL-ZQN in VA J last week. The meals I'm sure were fine (I don't recall them not being), and the shiraz certainly was. And as a side note, the domestic NZ lounge at ZQN is one of the best domestic lounges I've been in anywhere. Quite large, decent selection of food/drinks and lots of comfy...

LoungePair Guide: Buy Airport Lounge Passes for Less

From what I have seen on the LoungePair website, eg Melbourne Marhaba, Priority Pass would be a cheaper option if you were to use the cheapest PP several times a year. As a one off, LoungePair seems pretty average. With AFF discounts, then I guess it's competitive.

    Everyday Rewards Targeted Offers

Woolies have got very stingy of late. I'm currently in the middle of a Coles spend $50 a week for 4 weeks and get 10,000 points. Coles gain, Woolies loss. I'm quite happy for my Velocity points to be boosted.

Thoughts on North Face Rolling Thunder 28"?

This is what I use. High Sierra Composite V4 Medium 76cm Backpack Wheel Duffel Black 36024 It's 2kg and just about the right size for a carry-on, Jetstar have never had a problem with it. However, if you don't ever want to take your rolling backpack on a plane, the North Face item is fine (if...

    Bonza Airline Discussion

Ah yes, but Freddie was hard done by with his previous airline employer (Not O'leary, but who I've taken a shine to of late). There's a lot a garbage around in airline management these days. Just look at Australia.

    LHR hotels?

I always stay at the Premier Inn T4 whenever I have a day or two in London. It's just so convenient (and reasonably priced) and I always get a room with a view of Heathrow airport (which is just a few metres away). Well soundproofed though. A short walk on a covered walkway to T4, where you can...

    Bonza Airline Discussion

But Freddie Laker was one of the good guys. I remember taking one of his SkyTrains LAX-LON in heaven knows what year (my daughter was one then and she's now 45). BA was the BA bad guy there. But there is no bad guy with Bonza (apart from Bonza)

    Bonza Airline Discussion

There were some smart (or possibly dishonest) cookies at CO. Taking over UA was breathtaking and we're all now suffering from that. Turned UA into a semi-LCC, despite what anyone might say. Just fly them and you'll know (I'm a UA 2MM, lifetime Plat). Getting back to Bonza, I never expected them...

Etihad ex KUL to Europe in J - earns velocity?

I flew MNL-AUH-IST and back last year in W class (assume it's similar) and got the VA points and SC's no trouble. I'm doing it again this year and it should give me enough SC's for Plat membership until 2026. Quite cost-effective, really.

    Jetstar Denpasar to Adelaide

Virgin seem to be playing games with ADL-DPS-ADL flights. I was booked on a DPS-ADL flight next month, but they cancelled it and offered DPS-SYD-ADL on a pretty full flight with no decent seats left (I had 3A on the DPS-ADL flight). Cancelled for a refund and booked elsewhere. Seems like they...

Finnair but not Funnair - humph!

It wouldn't surprise me at all. It's the way airlines are heading at the moment. FWIW, I flew AY in J on a 359 a couple of weeks ago (QF reward) and was able to select any seat for free and had all of the other perks. The OWE lounge at HEL was very nice, where the barman went off to find a very...

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

FWIW, I'd always go for the $60. Cheap points. However, on a slightly different subject, I happened to notice on seats.aero that there were quite a few business class points redemptions available on UA to LHR, at a very reasonable points/$$$ price. I may well use this for a trip next year...

MEL reportedly best airport in Australia

I'm sorry, but it's not public transport at all. It's private transport. Pity the Vic Govt can't (or won't) step up. Too lucrative I imagine.

Can't leave Melbourne Airport During transit??? [DOH-MEL-ADL vv]

Best to fly QR (if at all) using FF points from another airline then. But I do think that QR can be pretty vindictive, and you have to look at the debacle involving Australian women at DOH (let's just not say it wasn't QR, as everything is state controlled there).
