    Credit card options for retirees

I've never heard of such a thing. How would a bank know your post retirement income and why would they check? I've had credit cards since 1998 and retired 10.5 years and had about 5 cards approved since. I'm on a government pension and topped up by a part age pension so not a big income. I'm...

    Flybuys Targeted Bonus Promotions

Also finished a 4x $90 2 weeks ago for 10,000 FB points and today got a 4 x $100 for 10,000 FB points. If it keeps on going up I'll rest for a while and see if the spend goes down.

    Coles Plus subscription program

I got this one tonight but there is no indication that is because I am a Coles Plus saver member. "Collect 2,000 bonus points when you spend $120 in one transaction in-store or online at Coles"

    Coles Plus subscription program

I'm a Coles Plus saver member and haven't noticed any difference in offers since joining. I agree that the extra points and 10% off a month is well worth the $7 subscription.

    Flybuys Targeted Bonus Promotions

    I just finished a 4 weeker for 10,000 FB points ($90 spend). I don't think I've seen 20,000 and I've completed quite a few now.

The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

I've had several emails telling me a connecting flight I have booked in May has had a time change. Looking in my FF account and talking to someone at Qantas a couple of weeks ago the flights are in fact unchanged. What has changed is the first leg has had a flight number change. I was told on...

    Flybuys Targeted Bonus Promotions

They just keep on coming. Anywhere from $60 x 4 to $110 x 4 is all good. I'm rotating Flybuys points and $50 off. Thank you Coles. Try to keep those online picking packers out of my way though.

Qantas Call Centre Long Wait Times

That's all well and good and understandable if the the individual problem is actually fixed. I got one of those emails on Tuesday with 2 contact numbers (1300 659 116 & 13 13 13 (priority line)) and waited an hour on each number and gave up. My 6.05 am out of Hobart was changed to 11.25am which...

Article: The Trick to Get a (Good) Free Meal Whenever You Fly

I have the Citi Premier card which gives you complimentary Priority Pass membership as well but you only get 2 visits a year. Some other benefits but nowhere near the Prestige card. Mind you the 110,000 Velocity points sign on bonus was nice on the Premier card!

    Credit card options for retirees

Post Covid I thought we wouldn't do any more overseas trips and "wasted" many Qantas and Velocity points the last 2 years on car hire, accommodation, a tablet and a mattress! I'm now having second thoughts and want to go to Europe next year and trying to build those points up again with the big...

Credit Card Offers Qantas Premier Platinum Offers & Discussion

I also got the same e-mail from the Virgin Card. Don't be put off by retirement when applying for new cards. I've been approved for the Virgin High Flyer card last year and the Citi Premier card this year and I'm retired 10 years and self funded with part pension.

Article: The Unpublished Benefit of Paying for Preferred Seats

I've decided to pay extra using $$ or points every domestic flight these days because of the extra legroom. In my opinion it's worth it not to be crammed into normal seats.

    Cook Islands tips & recommendations

You may already know this but the prices Myholidays quote are for certain dates, probably off peak times. When you go a bit further and look at say May 2025 there could something like $400 per person extra.

    Cook Islands tips & recommendations

I'm not a fan of Jetstar but sometimes you have to grin and bear and it if you want a direct flight to get there and back in the shortest time. I would happily pay for extra legroom seats for a little more comfort. It looks like 72,000 FF points would get the 2 of us there and back with some...

    Cook Islands tips & recommendations

I've been looking closely at the Cook Islands for a trip next May for our 50th wedding anniversary (I haven't discussed yet with Mrs ramboflyer!). I was pleasantly surprised to see in todays newsletter that there was a thread going on. I have already learnt some useful information e.g we...

    Coles Plus subscription program

I am considering Coles Plus Saver as we are avid Flybuys points collectors. I've never heard of Coles Plus. Just checked my Coles account and its there. I'm not interested in free delivery because I don't want anyone else picking out my fruit and vegetables. Plus we are in walking distance...

Pets in the Cabin - Coming soon on Virgin Australia

I hope they only allow the animals onto designated flights and passengers will know there will be dogs and cats on board so we can avoid those flights. I love dogs but have no desire to share a confined cabin with them and all that entails. Yes, there are smelly, annoying humans sometimes but...

How do I select seats on Virgin booked using Krisflyer miles?

Probably only one of the few times you won't get sent a "We value your feedback" request!

How do I select seats on Virgin booked using Krisflyer miles?

I've still got a good stash of Krisflyer miles but as we are unlikely to fly overseas again I think I will just convert them to Velocity points before they expire. I'll lose on the conversion but will use less Velocity points for bookings and will avoid all the problems with flight numbers and...

    VA Cancellations, Delays growing?

Somewhat harsh response I think. The man makes the point that he changed to an earlier flight to ensure he connects with his international leg. You may be technically correct but surely we should all expect that the contract we enter into with an airline is honoured by both parties.
