I remember the good ole days of standby prices for flights and hotels. A few years ago on a driving holiday in NSW we just rocked up to a nice looking apartment accommodation we saw in each town and asked for a rate for 2-3 nights. Mostly we were given rates at around half of the normal rate...
I'm retired for 11 years now. In January I was approved for the Amex Velocity Platinum card with its free flight and lounge entry every time I fly with Virgin plus excellent points earning including 100,000 sign on bonus points. The process was very easy. I'm on a government super pension and...
Thanks for the help. My Amazon account has been restored and no funds taken from my cc. I've taken my funds out of Wise with no drama and the gift card purchase with Paramount + was not charged. My 18 year old grandson said I could try again by making some changes to the Geo settings (or...
Thanks for the suggestion. I do have an Amazon account and switched to the US site and purchased the gift card. Got the e-mail to confirm order and at the same time another to say my account is suspended and I have to confirm who I am and I am the credit cardholder. This from the US site. I...
I'm going to have a rest from this for a while! Every time I think I'm in I get an error message. Bought a gift card from US Paramount + and got an e-mail to saying in progress immediately followed by another declining the transaction. Problem buying a US gift card is I have to use my oz credit...
The money is now in my Wise account and I have converted it to $US. The site I'm trying to pay (Paramount+) still wont accept the Wise card. There is only the option of paying by credit card and i don't know if the (virtual) Wise card I'm using is set up as a credit card.
The other problem...
Using AUD has worked but for some reason Wise is telling me they are checking my account and it will be Saturday 31/1 until the money will be in my account. I'll give them the benefit of assuming this is because its my first transfer.
Just to clarify - are you asking if I'm trying to transfer to Wise or the US subscription service? There was an early question in the setup about what currency I wanted to use and I said $US. I was thinking the question related to where the payment (subscription service) was going to go. I'll...
I've set up a Wise account and have tried to transfer $30 into it to use later. I don't want to use a credit card because of potential extra costs to transfer money so am trying to use my Macquarie bank account. I've tried using both the debit and credit option but both bombed with Macquarie...
"I suspect it’s also not uncommon for people to board Jetstar flights in a bad mood because they had a bad ground experience at the airport. "
Living in Hobart Jetstar can sometimes be the best option for flight times and price or points.
We'd flown out of Terminal 4 at Tullamarine a number...

I've used a US zip code in trying to put cc details in on Paramount+ but get an error message so it must recognise my non US cc. Can you give me a quick overview on how Wise works? It looks like my Virgin Money High Flyer CC supports it.
I'm a keen golfer and regularly watch the US PGA tour on Kayo. In 2025 Kayo (read Foxtel) changed the TV broadcasters to ESPN. Personally I find the commentators and general coverage on ESPN boring and not a patch on the commentators from CBS, Golf Channel and NBC. I suspect its a cost saving...

Thank you Matt for pointing me in the direction of going via Johannesburg from London on the way back to SYD in 2015 to fly in J. By a happy coincidence you were on the same flight as my wife and I and we enjoyed some time together in the lounge. I wish you all the best in the future. And...
In the past month I have flown Virgin, Qantas and Jetstar. 5 years ago I would agree Virgin cabin crew were the best and friendliest of all. This last couple of years I have noticed a drop in the Virgin cabin crew. Still nice and no complaints but no joking during announcements or happy smiles...
I always book economy X - usually with points. Good value for extra legroom esp on longer flights. It helps that you get priority boarding as well so you can avoid the crush to get the overhead storage and sit down. Must remember to do it more than 28 days out although I usually do anyway.
