Outstanding Service from QANTAS and my fellow Australians

A little while ago I posted the extraordinary service of the complete QANTAS team in working together to fly, with 13 other members of my family, a son who had a terminal disease who badly wanted to see Disneyland. In short, after the work of his cardiologists, it was deemed OK to fly and on...

All (15 with parents) flying in Premium Economy - However, 3 seats booked for my wife and I and one son in Business as this will be his last 2 flights on this earth...

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Before you do anything, check that of your total SC's will have 2700 on QANTAS metal otherwise its useless - the 2700 is the hard bit - however if you can do the 2700 go for the P1 - it's worth it.

    Staff Upgrades

Earlier in the thread it was asked the age of son number 2 - he is 36. I have a rule for all travelling staff including family - they must be well dressed as they are 90% of the time on business and you never know who you meet and what you can do with personal presentation. And overseas, they...

    Staff Upgrades

J was upstairs and we were in the nose - son number 2 was told by steward that one was staff and the other spouse - as I said, I don't know which one - but at the end of the day, on returning to Sydney, I thought, just get on with life - all was well - I just thought it was a "little over the...

As a matter of interest does anyone know how you qualify for "Chairman's Lounge"? Is it my invitation only or do you have to have so many years of SP's? Or do you have to be a friend of the Chairman or Alan? (Joke) Just interested - never likely to see it but it would be interesting to know the...

As someone who travels to Vn 12-14 times a year VISA is vital - you can get it online and then at the airport (photograph necessary), however, if RINGER lives in Sydney, take quick trip to VINA Travel in Marrickville Road Marrickville - you will need your passport, a photograph and you need to...

Keeping all my CC points with Qantas, is it worth it? [other Options?]

Re: Keeping all my FF points with Qantas, is it worth it? Unfortunately yes, work requirements just made various flights for the family almost impossible - and 8 were kids aged 10 or less - anyway I should really not whinge just be happy to be in a position to take my kids and grandkids away -...

Keeping all my CC points with Qantas, is it worth it? [other Options?]

Re: Keeping all my FF points with Qantas, is it worth it? I am not too sure whether the points are worth very much at all - on a recent thread I speculated that I would blow my 3 million points and my wife's 1 million points on our family (7 adults and 9 kids) on a return flight to LAX using...

I travel to Vietnam every 6-8 weeks on VN airlines - It is a member of Skyteam - however they have many codeshare alliances - as an examples I travel on a QF ticket and get all of the normal entitlements - they also codeshare with Cathay with the same result. They all so codeshare with China...

How do you cope with emergencies at home when travelling?

Family illness is a big call: I travel overseas frequently with the knowledge that my third son has a terminal disease - however, the travel is essential for the well-being of our family companies. So I have always a "back-up" plan. I carry the highest level of insurance I can get. I always book...

QFi PAX loads down 7.2 percent during April '13 compared to April '12

This is an interesting thread: I am writing this from London while Mrs Swanhaven is asleep - left Sydney on QF1 on Saturday 15th SYD-DXB-LHR and flight was absolutely "chockers" - not a single seat available - likewise the Melbourne flight that arrives DXB about the same time for same day was...

How do you do it? SG, WP, WP1 etc [Mainly Domestic Oz travel]

I think the people who do it tough are those that travel domestic having to stick to a tight travel budget: I am P1, with 3000 current status points with 5 months to run - however, I am head of three family businesses with one office in Boston and a major business in Vietnam and I only fly...

J class JFK- LHR. Which airline BA or AA

For me, BA, AA have only a few (1 or 2) new 777's - BA's is almost flat but its really not a very very long flight - also food is better on BA (that's an opinion only) and also check the time you are landing at JFK - BA is Terminal 7 and AA Terminal 8, your wait at Immigration in 7 can be long...
