    New Korean Air livery

I like the overall look of it except for the styling of Korean. It just looks like a generic font and rather bland. Colour scheme and tail logo look great.

Article: Ultimate Guide to Singapore Airlines First Class & Suites

The better half and I are travelling to Europe in the second half of this year. We are going Singapore J (A380) Sydney to London then F/Suites Paris to Sydney (which is an wedding anniversary surprise), so it will be interesting 1) to experience the difference J/F/Suites and 2) see her reaction...

Europcar caught scamming customer at Sydney Airport

Yep, I got done by Europcar too. I had an accident first day back at work in January 2024. Insurance company used Europcar for their replacement car company. I had the hire car for 2 months and when I returned it they said it was too dirty and would require professional cleaning and that I had...

AFF Review: Fiji Airways A350-900 Economy Class (SYD-NAN)

I haven't flown on their A350's yet, as I take the 06:00 flight which is the 737 Max. I enjoyed the Max flight but would like to try the A350. The trouble is the A350 arrives in Nadi at 18:55 compared to 11:00 for the Max which means you lose 1 day of your holiday. Have flown the Virgin flight...

Article: Why is Dynamic Currency Conversion Even Legal?

Thanks kpc. The BW More World MC has an annual fee of $270 as opposed to the Qantas World MC version with $320 annual fee (must have gone up). I was leaning towards the Qantas version, with 100,000 bonus qantas points, and the ongoing qantas earn is more attractive than the more rewards points...

    Transit Query Heathrow

Thanks @Scarlett, @Quickstatus and @TomVexille. I think I am starting to agree that even the 8:50 might be a tad early given SQ322's Monday morning arrival is due in 1.5hrs late.

    Transit Query Heathrow

Thanks all for the input. I think I will play it safe and book the later flight but check T&C's of Amex Travel first.

    Transit Query Heathrow

They will be separate tickets. SQ are J reward tickets (already booked) and El will be a cash one (will use the $400 Amex travel credit to purchase).

    Transit Query Heathrow

Hey fellow travellers, I have a question regarding transit time at Heathrow. We start our 2 month European adventure arriving into Heathrow (Singapore Airlines) at 05:55 and then will catch a flight to Dublin (Aer Lingus). I was wondering how much transit time we should allow between the...

HSBC increasing credit card annual fees on 11/3/25

This is interesting for the Star Alliance card as it has only been out in the market for 12 -18 months? Must need the extra funds for all the fines they got recently.

    Superannuation Discussion + market volatility

JohnK, unfortunately you can't salary sacrifice your unused LSL into superannuation. We have just gone through this scenario with an employee who wished to do exactly that. For a valid salary sacrifice agreement, the agreement has to be entered into prior to the income being earned, which in...

Velocity trans-Atlantic availability on United: can't book direct flights?

I was looking for flights from Sydney to Canada (Halifax) and then on to Ireland in J for May/June or August/September next year. Started looking 11 months out and continued for 3 months solid. Could not find a single seat either to Canada or to Ireland on the Velocity website. Also tried the...

    Qantas Passenger Discrimination Case

Who's anxiety was she talking about - hers for having to leave the poor dog at home alone or the dog's for being left at home alone?

Article: If You Have a Huge Points Balance, You Might Be Doing It Wrong

I had just under 1.4m Velocity points in my account until recently. I transferred most of them to Krisflyer and then redeemed them for 2x J SYD to LHR and 2x F CDG to SYD for our birthdays and wedding anniversary next year. This was always the planned use of them but took longer to organise due...

Article: Qantas & Velocity’s Poor Value Gift Card Redemptions

I would say that both Qantas and Virgin would very keen for us to spend our points on gift cards if they are such poor value. This gives them a very nice margin and removes a lot of points/value from their balance sheets. One gives them a boost to the P&L and the other a boost to the balance...

Article: What to expect flying from Sydney to Canada on AC34

levelnine, thanks for the info. That is unfortunate that they only release seats close to departure, as this was to be the first leg of a large 10/11 week trip (Canada/Ireland/Scotland/England/Germany/France/Singapore). Might have to skip visiting my brother in Canada if I can't secure seats...

Article: What to expect flying from Sydney to Canada on AC34

I the last 3 years I have been looking, I have never found a single business rewards seat available on the Velocity website. They are all cash seats quoted in points. I will be availing myself of the concierge service in a couple of months to try to get 2 business seats to Halifax NS.

    Scams like these

How could anyone fall for this. There are 2 distinct giveaways, apart from the url. Qantas would never say "we are are excited to show our appreciation to our loyal customers" and "we hope this token of our gratitude brings joy to your day"😜
