A short trip to Japan - Hokkaido

Yes the custom is that sake cups are always filled to the brim. Often the cups sit in a saucer and it is also customary to overfill the cup so that Sake flows into the saucer. It's an expression of generosity. Sake is typically mild to the palate - very suitable for me as I am not into...

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

Often the app quotes the time the closest car for your class of car will take to get to you. However the car that grabs the job first may not be the closest car when the Uber driver app sends out a request to the group of cars in your area. I don't know how wide the net is cast though.

@rbjhan Can you please review the oldest ryokan in Japan? I suspect you may have in your other TR.

They've oversold our cruise! And we got the offer!

One thing I've learnt in these parts is that a complimentary upgrade while complimentary may not actually be an upgrade. Additionally after you accept the upgrade, you can't turn the clock back and return to your previous cabin as it's long gone. So need to choose wisely.

    1Cover - requiring pre-payment / going hard on pre-existing conditions?

The issue was not the hypertension. I think 1Cover suspected that there was a pre-existing condition of coronary disease. As per my previous post - coronary disease does not happen overnight so they went looking for any evidence of the insured knowing about it prior to this trip. I think despite...

    1Cover - requiring pre-payment / going hard on pre-existing conditions?

@TheGoodDoctor Thank you and welcome to AFF This is a most egregious conduct that an insurer who has zero evidence of a pre-existing disease can essentially demand a signed financial guarantee from the family and then still refuse to provide an insurer's guarantee to the hospital. Potentially...

    Let's talk about Ryokans

@rbjhan Only because you have added some food pics but maybe you are intending to add this in later: Do they serve sake with their meals? If so do they have a Sake menu. I'm not into alcohol much but do like Sake (introduced to it by my cousin's husband who is a Sake sommelier.) QF Lounge...

    General EV Discussion

The RWDs can now charge faster from a SC as the SC can now actively heat the battery before or while it charges using a AC ripple current embedded within its DC charging current: up to 4x increase in charging speed but I think not so much in Australia as our climate does not usually cause the...

So in summary: Aussie guy had a medical emergency overseas and the insurer foots the bill AFTER the family urgently stumped up $30k on the CC.

    General EV Discussion

Never used Telstra to supercharge my EV either🤣 It is an auto charge system. You set up your Tesla app account first. The SC recognises the car ID and the account it is associated to. The handshake is very quick . So if you lent it out the person you lent it to sets up their account and the...

I go to 7 -Eleven in EV to Fill up jerry cans with diesel/petrol and get my dose of fumes, pump tyres and use their window squeegee Many/some tesla superchargers are open to non tesla cars but compatibility issues on BYD's side prevent older model Attos from using them They are not that fast in...

10% change in prices can be easily mopped up by floating exchange rates. I suspect a lot of importers will be banging on the Australian port of entry doors with their excess stock.

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

For Uber Gold plat and diamond drivers it's <3%. It does not sound like much but as I said before drivers need 2500 completed trips on a rolling 3 months to qualify for and maintain💎 (amongst other requirements). Per month that's 830. 3% =25 /month cancellations. Less for others. Gold for...

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

Interesting how several Cairns Uber drivers are creating AFF accounts to comment here's - which is totally fine and welcome to all. This topic must be trending outside of AFF🤣 Welcome to AFF @AjMcN . Confirms my suspicion that there is coordination between some Uber drivers of operating apps.
