Anyone else had an overseas speeding fine arrive in the mail?

Yup. Regularly from Italy. I reckon they view us a reliable source of foreign revenue. Have had a few from France as well.

The one that got away [Country I Want to Visit but Can't]

I would highly recommend Tunisia to those who have not visited. Had two weeks there in November. Steeped in history. Lovely people.

The one that got away [Country I Want to Visit but Can't]

The one that got away [Country I Want to Visit but Can't]

Iraq . I grew up in Basra. and last saw it in 1964 and regret that I cannot visit this unfortunate country. What a mess the west has made of the Middle East. The cradle of civilisation

AFF Review: Singapore Airlines A350 Regional Business Class (ADL-SIN)

You mention free WiFI but not the fact that it is dismally slow. SQ are way behind in this respect

Paris Lunch Sat 6 April 2024

What I miss about France (lived there for 8 years) is the fact that they DO serve the likes of kidneys and rabbit and brains! Try finding those in Brisbane? Lucky if you can get a piece of liver that hasn't been designed to sole one's shoes with. They are civilised - and oh yes, they know how to...

Article: How Vodafone’s $5 Global Roaming Compares to Optus & Telstra

Thanks. Didn't know that. I'm going to be travelling (slowly) for a year from Jan so will use Felix for to/from Aus as really like the 365 day term and use Orange Travel eSIM 14 day for the ability to call in country and without.

Article: How Vodafone’s $5 Global Roaming Compares to Optus & Telstra

Good summary article but you need to mention which ones allow one when roaming to" 1. Make local calls in the country in which you're roaming 2. Make international calls to a third country. Felix roaming pack is great BUT does not allow for local calling so I need to get an eSim. Orange...

    Frequent flying as a consultant

Interesting question. Have travelled internationally on assignment for large companies for many years and for the last ten as a consultant based in QLD but travelling mainly to the Pacific,. I'm of an age where I won't travel more than 5 hours in economy - and that's a stretch! If the client's...

    Mobile Phone Free Zones

Thanks for the info guys. Yes I'm afraid they're one of life's great pollutants due to lack of consideration. I used to live in France and they've introduced jamming systems to Cinemas. I'm very concerned about the airlines allowing them on flights. Can you imagine sitting next to some one...

    Mobile Phone Free Zones

Shortly visiting Oz and travelling through quite a few airports. Are there any 'quiet' zones in lounges or public areas where mobile phones are not allowed or better still won't work. We all need 'em but its nice to step away sometimes. Thanks!

    Qantas First versus Business

No offence and we were all little people once - but spare a thought for the couple who, unlike you road-warriors whose companies generally foot the bill, have saved up for the trip of a life-time in First and then get seated next to a colic infant for a 12 hour leg!
