Cash or Card? Countries where you still need cash.

Further to foreign ATMs, Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) and the like… Today I withdrew cash from an IberCaja ATM in rural Spain (Galicia). The ATM very generously offered to convert the EU amount into AUD for me. The rate offered was 1 AUD = 0.562148 EU, while the XE rate at the time showed...

    A bit of humour

Just by coincidence, today in the only bar in a very small village in rural Spain, I saw this clock… (also running backwards)

    A bit of humour

All very amusing, and fits the stereotype, but… if you flipped the clock to have the six in the correct position, then it would be upside down, and look like IA (without the crossbar in the A). So it appears as if it’s staged or photoshopped satire (or maybe it’s been produced by AI… coincidence...

Cash or Card? Countries where you still need cash.

I did the test. I used the ING card at a UniCaja ATM. The ATM didn’t charge a fee, ING charged $5 and then rebated it (I jumped the hoops last month), and the transaction converted within 0.3% of XE rate. Test successful…

"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Although I agree with you that the pros outweigh the cons… As you have MH in your itinerary, be extra vigilant on the reticketing issue when you make any itinerary changes - MH can be dynamite on recalling seats if they’re left in ticketing purgatory for long (said the voice of bitter experience…)

I’ll try it out if I need more cash

Cash or Card? Countries where you still need cash.

Just a couple of data points… I’m currently in Spain (Extremadura). On Credit Cards… Seems to be a big change during/post CV19. Most bars, cafes, restaurants, hotels, Casa Rural, etc that I’ve used have credit card machines. Many are wireless. Most vendors quite happy to take card. I saw a...

Yes, all you have to do is click your heels three times, while riding a unicorn under a rainbow, holding hands with a leprechaun… 🦄🌈🍀

Th Thanks for the heads up. A follow up question if I may: If such a booking is made pre 31/3, but the booking is changed post 1/4 (say to add some legs as they become available later), would you expect the fuel fines, taxes, etc to be ‘re-priced’ at that time and so become subject to these new...

+1 in favour of Go-Blu. They confirmed the booking the day before, they arrived a few minutes early, they alerted their arrival by sms, the car was clean & tidy, the driver was courteous & professional, and the price was very competitive (& even more so with the first ride extra discount).

Schedule change by 5 mins - do I need a new eticket?

Go to the Royal Jordanian website - rj.com - and navigate to Manage Booking. See if your itinerary still shows the OLD ticket numbers and the NEW flight times. If yes, then should be fine. If no, then start damage control immediately.

Article: Qantas’ Frustrating Application of Married Segment Logic

Possible outcomes (there may be others): 1. CSA says no; 2. CSA says yes, but then finds that the system won’t allow it; 3. CSA says yes, promises to get it ticketed, ticketing fails, and SYD-SCL flight also drops off; 4. CSA says yes, and then actually gets it done, including new tickets. You...

Melbourne EV Car Ride Service - GoBlu-EV

So, is it a fair summary to say: * Need to book in advance; * About 20% cheaper than Uber, and same as Didi (under current price structures); * A bit sloppy on the service levels.
