How does Marriott treat you as an elite?

I guess hotels are always YMMV but from someone who’s spends about 150 nights a year in hotels and have done the hard yards I would recommend Marriott over any hands down. No love lost though as that’s a spare room someone else can take so I get an upgrade

I'm in the QF Lounge thread

Any other frequent afternoon visitors lamenting the loss of hot food? Seems in the last few weeks QF lounges are removing the hot options around 3pm

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Received my first upgrade as a P1 in the last few days. This would’ve likely been the first personal revenue fare so the first time in Y paid as usually in J or F for work. Brings me to the question whether others have received the VIP team message on redemptions as that’s usually my preferred...

Qantas to Launch SYD-AKL-JFK (June 2023)

It can be horrific, don’t make any plans after or need to connect

How does Marriott treat you as an elite?

I have to vehemently disagree here…I’m ambassador and mid tier with many other programs and Marriott are so so so much more consistent than others. It’s so rare to get knocked back for a 4pm yet Hilton will barely budge and Accor are the worst. Regarding the JW, I agree…sadly it’s usually the...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Had to take a late golden triangle flight this eve (post 7.59pm) and just wanted to highlight that it is not a dinner service as people seem to be very sensitive to timings. Cheese plate was perfect at the time…do prefer the Bethany Shiraz or Grenache to Heirloom but still quite drinkable.

Spice bar at Melbourne Qantas Domestic Business Lounge

Was a chicken dish with beans and a spicy sauce or tofu and noodles…chicken was ok and tofu looked too saucy with a white shirt like the laksa. I have started dropping into the sushi place downstairs periodically.

I wasn’t a fan of the pork either and in the midst of eating the pork they removed all the other options which included the curry with poppadum. The crispy noodles are an odd choice and tough to eat. It’s sad I’m actually preferring the Syd slop of late to MEL

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Wouldn’t mind if the P1 and WP numbers dropped off a little. Some days the dom J lounges can be crazy then the next week deserted. Have been looked after quite well across my regular ports whether it be favourable rebooking on canceled services or wine to take off or notes.

The Emirates First Experience - What to Expect?

Thanks for sharing! A good reminder to get back on the website and get some EK F booked in ASAP

Is P1 worth a couple of hundred SCs?

I say why not…if you’re only a couple of hundred you’ve come so far In terms of treatment it really comes down to crew but I value getting access to prime seats and just knowing you theoretically should have the best treatment in case of IRROPS or onboard. My travel is all work so there’s...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I can understand the sentiment from someone that doesn’t travel frequently pre dinner. For me this is perfect as I usually have dinner engagements and know what I’m getting into pre 5pm. If you want a proper meal, use the resources on here to figure out when full meals are served

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Did my usual Monday golden triangle and had a different rendition of cheese plate which I didn’t mind…different cheeses and accompaniments but wasn’t the ploughmans plate or cheese plate so maybe this is the new norm.

QF12 Business Class to First Upgrade

I wouldn’t…I normally have a great meal in LAX F lounge, grab a cheese plate and red wine then sleep till a couple hours out of Syd. Save your points for a better outright redemption assuming you’re emerald and above. If you’re not maybe do it to see the LAX F depending if you’re connecting and...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Had a few J flights around the east coast today One service with lamb and potatoes or prawns with rice and greens…first time I’ve ever seen prawns mentioned…there seemed a lot of rice with this one. Late evening service was southern chicken curry or lamb salad with chickpeas and lentils. I...

Spice bar at Melbourne Qantas Domestic Business Lounge

No judgment from me…I don’t really want to be there either…just a function of catching the bus home on an evening mel syd shuttle. My interactions have been fairly limited to my selection so havent been able to comment much further. I catch a mel Syd more than my local bus as do many other in...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

To clarify, I’m usually around a 5 or 6pm service with multiple topups whereas this was a bit early so only one sparkling. I found the crew a bit lost as to what to do as usually they’re willingly topping up wine glasses. It wasn’t a criticism at all. One day we will cross paths and share a...

Qantas T-80 no longer a thing?

That is weird as all above WP would be down in F. As a P1 no complaints reserving as many seats as possible. Got to be some perks

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Came down early for a personal commitment so outside my regular golden triangle hours and didn’t mind the brunch service…crew have a much easier service when too early for wine service Options were quiche pictured, bacon and egg roll or salad with prosciutto

Spice bar at Melbourne Qantas Domestic Business Lounge

I don’t mean to sound spoilt but as a weekly visitor I’m even getting tired of all the options. You can extrapolate how I feel about SYD’s offering from this. Been mostly having the curry and chilli con carne dish. Wouldn’t mind a more regular refresh
