Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Just received a text from Qantas Wine advertising 70% off Rosenthal The Marker Mount Barker Pinot Noir 2022 ($180 for a case of 12). No idea if it's any good or not, but at just over $10 per bottle (after using my $50 Points Club voucher) I expect it'll be hard to complain. Would be keen to hear...

Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

IFE was also fairly buggy on my recent flight. Mine froze towards the start of the flight and eventually fixed itself. My travel companion experienced numerous freezes including one that lasted for a good 20 minutes after informing the cabin crew.

AFR Article - Joe Aston goes BAM!

I wouldn’t necessarily trust that. It says the Finnair 330s have a 100% on time record. The on time arrival stats for QF291 SYD-SIN suggest otherwise…

Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

Yes, from Sydney. I think the staff were trying their best but certainly lacked the typical warmth you get from Qantas crew (most of the time anyway)

Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

Just got off my first Finnair wet lease flight in J and as much as I was excited to try the new seat I’m not a fan. When sitting upright, I found it difficult to get comfortable given the slight angle of recline (even with a couple of pillows). When sleeping I also found it difficult to get...

    Qatar Airways bans Youtuber

As he notes in the video, other major travel vloggers including Nonstop Dan and Noel Phillips don’t seek permission either, but they’ve not been banned from flying Qatar (nor have the crews on the flights they’ve reviewed been fired). That’s obviously just an excuse Qatar is using to ban him for...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF8 DFW-SYD Had the seared beef fillet for main, which was surprisingly tender and well cooked: Blueberry crumble for dessert, also very nice:

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Wheels up at 11.16am (exactly 60 minutes after pushback) on QF769 MEL-PER, which was scheduled for 9.30am. Congestion seems to be easing at MEL now.

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Been sitting in the queue at MEL for 40 minutes now (since pushback). Listening to ATC they’re saying 70 minutes from pushback to takeoff for current departures.

ACCC action re cancelled Qantas flights

I’d be interested in what your source is for this claim, as such defences are certainly not available under the legislation and I’m not aware of any cases where arguments along these lines have been successfully run.

ACCC action re cancelled Qantas flights

I haven't seen what Geoffrey Thomas has written on this, but to be clear, Qantas' intention (i.e. whether the conduct was done on purpose or due to incompetence/poor systems) is completely irrelevant to this case from a legal perspective. The case is (largely) about whether Qantas engaged in...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Nope, Maggie Beer brand was recently rated the worst vanilla ice cream by Choice - dead last from everything you can get at the supermarket. They've trashed the brand - I recently received a cheese hamper from then and ended up throwing them out, they were that bad.

ACCC action re cancelled Qantas flights

As far as the law is concerned intent is completely irrelevant to the question of liability. The only question in this case is whether Qantas’ representations were liable to mislead consumers. That said, if they are liable and it was a bureaucratic bungle (ie not premeditated) that would be a...
