Who to escalate a complaint to when your tour is not as described?

Savannahlander? Their website says the damaged bridge near Forsayth is not even excepted to open in 2025. 😢

Unable to book SYD-HNL with Hawaiian

So hit and miss. I had success adding it at the airport in HNL for two flights, one agent told me it was under VA in the list so wasnt obvious for her to find. I tried adding it a previous time using the Hawaiian Web chat and they said they'd done it but nothing ever posted. 🤷‍♂️

    SQ Y+ vs Scootplus

Flew scoot once many years ago to OOL. They were food naz_s on that flight. Got told off for opening a small bag of crisps. Lady behind us asked for hot water for her own noodle bowl and when they said no way she asked to buy a cup of tea without the tea bag! Scoot was very new at the time...

    Brisbane Premium Lounge Entry

You get escorted by security out the back to a lift next to a loading dock. You then go up a level in the lift, through some doors and pop out into the terminal past where the lounge exit is and enter the lounge via the main entry. Annoying.

Quickest status run totalling 830SCs in <24 hours

Haha yes so disappointing, particularly when visiting with a toddler! Why just the one flavour??

Jetstar nonstop services between Australia and the Cook Islands

Wonder what the loads are like on the 2:15am NZ947 flights? I guess it could be good for picking up connections out of AKL, but a 4 hour red eye on an all Y A320 sounds brutal. I would rather get the daytime NZ945 on a 787/777 and stay in a hotel if going via AKL. Guess those weird NZ947 flights...

    Obtaining a visa for Chile

They really need to ditch this visa. I understand the reciprocity politics but jeez it's annoying enough to turn some people off going there. We've been lucky and avoided paying on both our trips to Chile. Last one in 2017 we flew in from Tahiti to Easter island and then domestic into SCL. Time...

What’s the deal with my involuntary downgrade?

Thanks Henrus, apparently they weren't offered anything. Should have at least got some food vouchers. SIL didn't want to make a fuss but had to entertain 2 youngsters for 5 hours and had no lounge access without my brother travelling with her. Guess they bump the non status low value pax?

What’s the deal with my involuntary downgrade?

Hi Henrus, perhaps you can shed some light on this one: my SIL was supposed to fly on VA375 today and at the airport was told it was cancelled and she has been moved to a later flight. Yet flightradar shows a QQ F70 operating VA375, currently in the air over Yeppoon. Did they lie to my SIL about...

What’s the deal with my involuntary downgrade?

I reckon this. I received two emails for my VA flights this week, both booked in Y on 737s, advising they were now operated by a Fokker (the one that says prepare yourself for the antique Alliance plane with no food/booze service, WiFi, or IFE all for the same price as a mainline service 😒). But...

Cash or Card? Countries where you still need cash.

ATMs were often thin on the ground, I remember being in Cambodia in the early 2000s and couldn't find one. Also exchanging before you go wouldn't work for more obscure currencies, I guess you could take a wad of cash and exchange over there but depending on the country they may not want AUD and...

Cash or Card? Countries where you still need cash.

Definitely, cash has got us out of a pickle many times, it's still common in some parts of the world to find ATMs that are broken, randomly refuse our cards, or just non-existent. You can always spend the leftover cash on overpriced junk at the airport or keep for a future trip (oops.. my 200...

Jetstar nonstop services between Australia and the Cook Islands

Did both HNL - RAR and RAR - SYD a few weeks ago in Y. JQ flight was pretty full but it was school hols. At over 7 hours it was a very long flight on a narrow body in those thin JQ Y seats. At least we didn't have to divert to Auckland to refuel. Saw on flight radar that 3 flights had done that...

The Dark side of Japan Tourism.

Jeez what a horrific experience and I'm sorry that you and your wife had to go through that. Having spent a bit of time driving in Shikoku and Kyushu, I must admit I never once looked behind me while making a right-hand turn, or even thought to look behind me. It is so ingrained to just give...

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

Yep the US is different, from my research for past road trips I recall they don't have the included insurances we are used to, eg. a $4000 excess that you can reduce further (or have covered by travel insurance). Over there if you don't take out the LDW/CDW I believe you are liable for up to the...

    Night Terrors: Mercure Bendigo Schaller

Happened to us in Tashkent, in a relatively flash hotel too. They had stuffed the dates up on our booking and their system had us arriving a day later than what our paperwork said. After pfaffing around for ages they found us a room but when we opened the door we saw a suitcase on the floor and...

    Cook Islands tips & recommendations

@ luxury-lizard, thanks for the tips, keen to follow along. We will be visiting late September routing home from HNL on the weekly HA flight to RAR then braving JQ direct to SYD .

Slow Processing of Inbound PAX at SYD T1

Was the case for us too. The family queue was definitely quicker than the e gates on the two occasions we went through SYD T1 last year. Even in CNS last week when we were almost the last pax off the SQ A350, we bypassed the long queue for the 4 E gates and were out within 10 minutes. Felt a bit...
