Whilst I'm also in the same demo (i.e. Jetstar is a "no") I'm finding that the gap between QF & VA in Y is becoming less and less when it's a Choice fare vs. the standard QF Y fare.

In SYD lounge for the next hour, can guest 2. Moderately busy without being crazy. Butter "chicken" with rice on offer for dinner...although a bit challenging to find the chicken 🤷‍♂️🤔 PS - mince tarts also on offer, along with what looked to be leg ham for the toasting offering...

In the BNE lounge for the next hour, can guest 2. Beef bolognese, whole roast potatoes w/rosemary, and nacho toppings....best spread I've seen for a little while. Lounge isn't overly busy, but the terminal is. New furniture in the front half as well....very snazzy 😎

Flying BNE-SYD next week and then SYD-BNE on Boxing evening...Mrs Hawk and I are on separate PNRs courtesy of the annual AMEX rewards flight. For the return leg there's currently 4 seats available in J - upgrade for cash or points is unavailable to me for this leg, but Mrs Hawk can bid on both...

I was on SYD-OOL Sunday evening and noticed the cabin manager bringing a water bottle to the lady in 3C. Didn't think much of it at the time, but 🤷‍♂️

Bid minimum $55 for OOL-SYD yesterday on 10:20am service, however was unsuccessful. Flight was completely full, so not surprising. Returning tomorrow on a fairly full service so not expecting my $60 (min + 5) offer to be successful.

Looking for UA J reward inventory on BNE-SFO in July...nothing available via VA, however the UA app now shows a "Cardmembers pay" row... and there's available J reward seats for them 😪😪😪

Pre-COVID (hence pre-admin) both Gold and Platinum got access to the Brisbane-based call centre. Now it's just "welcome to Velocity Premium" with a Filipino accent. Seems to be better than what it was 12 months ago, but YMMV.

QF don't have anything across the aisle, but there is the air divider (made of perspex) that is clipped to the bottom of the overhead.
