Have to say that I have enjoyed the 06 semillon very much, plenty of development but still tight acidity. I didn't get the 04 so don't know how that's going. I've also enjoyed the 2012 riesling and 2013 Blackbutt from these guys, but then it's a winery I know well and I may therefore have a bias 😄 😉

Yup, lots of semillon, some chardonnay, prefer lean tight styles and very occasional lean tight SSB. Usually the latter verge too tropical fruity and I'd rather drink bilge water :D:D:D

For my palate, most of the Aussie and NZ stuff is pretty rank, although they occasionally have a decent Sancerre. If you need good dry whites, buy riesling 😁😈😎

Jolly good! 👍 I should have added that I did also of both riesling and semillon

Yes, definitely. Their rieslings and semillons age excellently. In addition for the semillon, 06 was a really cool year in WA which produced excellent whites.

Bought the aged reds pack, had the 12 cab franc and 07 Cab Merlot. Both still alive and kicking, the cab franc a little on the lighter side and still seems like very young fruit. The cab merlot was in a good place, definitely ageing well with good fruit depth, length and balance. Haven't...

Now now boys, play nicely. While I agree there have been lots of bargains around, they may not be all to everyone's tastes. I'm not a big lover of McLaren Vale or Barossa, where a lot of the bargains have been, and the joke RRPs and invented wines are just sad. Still I have managed to find some...

I have had this, picked up on a similar offer a few months ago, along with the cab sav too I think. I enjoyed both but felt they both need more time to develop. Plenty of fruit and stuffing here for my palate, so I'll be resting them for a while longer before the next one.

Highly recommend doing this. I've had some from the mid-2000s recently and they have been stunning. I find them way too young on release, quite austere and acidic.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all the Anita's they have had. To me, very classic bojos with the moulin a vent and the Morgon a bit heavier than the others as one might expect

How about freezing some for cooking? I normally just chuck cooking wine leftovers into a zippy bag or small jam jar and keep for another time. Doesn't seem to affect it for cooking purposes

I bought this from mof_ and was well impressed. Quite robust for a pinot and needs a little ageing, plus a good decant if you want to drink now. Would buy more at that price. There is some decent pinot over here, Castle Rock, Batista Estate and Picardy, come to mind for example, but you won't...

Just in case it hasn't been noted previously, Willoughby Park in WA have a few specials at $100 a dozen. No connection, just bought today

Agreed, but sometimes it's worth having one young if you like them really bright and light with bracing acidity, which I do. Then pop the rest away for a while

Personally, I would buy the riesling, it's always a high quality drop and that is a decent price

For me in terms of Aussie wines, probably the Derwent Estate Lime Kiln Point pinot 2018 and Peos Estate Four Kings Pinot 2022. I tend to buy more foreign wines though and the various options from Domain Anita have been great, although less bang for buck for sure

I would imagine that the OP was talking about Parker Coonawarra First Growth, which is a gorgeous wine after decent ageing

Probably depends on your tolerance for green pepper. I found it quite smooth and just about full bodied but while I do find some appeal in green pepper notes, this was a bit overwhelming. Like you, I really enjoyed the whites and bought the red on that basis but I wouldn't buy the red again. I...
