Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

I've done this several times and accepted the change via the MMB link in the email from Finnair. They then issue a new (Qantas) ticket - i.e the ticket number starts with 081. Sometimes I get an updated ticket/notification from Qantas too, sometimes I don't. I think it depends on the itinerary.

    Unilateral BA Flight Change

An update to close the loop on this one. After getting nowhere on the phone and through chat, I submitted a complaint on the BA website using the phrasing suggested by @MEL_Traveller. It's done the trick, and I've just received new tickets on the original flight. The BA support person was...

    Unilateral BA Flight Change

That's good to hear @docjames, thank you. This booking is directly with BA, though it does have my QF WP status noted. Still waiting for a response to my email (aside from the "dear smiliemonster" email asking me to confirm my name and email address 😂).

    Unilateral BA Flight Change

That's probably what will happen to me too!

    Unilateral BA Flight Change

No I used to, but let it lapse in favour of other programs. I do still have an BAEC account where I collect Avios. The logic (or lack thereof) behind the whole scenario is totally baffling.

    Unilateral BA Flight Change

Agreed, late arrivals are annoying, but in your case there's not much choice. I've certainly had my share of these flights too. My irritation is the flight I booked is still running with no change to it whatsoever except the flight number. BA have simply used the number change to shuffle us...

    Unilateral BA Flight Change

Glad to hear it worked out for you. It really does feel like a bait and switch situation which I assume is just as illegal in the UK as it is here in Australia. As in your case, if the flight was really cancelled, that's one thing, but if it's still running and they want more for the privilege...

    Unilateral BA Flight Change

As I noted above, I didn't have any luck with this approach on the phone so I've written, outlining the issue (again) as you suggested. Thank you; we'll see how it goes!

    Unilateral BA Flight Change

This is my view too, but they wouldn't entertain the idea of doing anything due to this unpublished 2 hour rule. I've reviewed the conditions of carriage and fare rules and couldn't find it referenced anywhere either. Perhaps it's there and I'm just looking in the wrong place? I'm totally...

    Unilateral BA Flight Change

We have been advised our BA flight from LHR to ATH has changed time and will now depart 1h 20min later. Unfortunately that means we will now arrive in the early hours of the morning. Of course we will get to our destination, so it's not the end of the world, but.... The problem I have is that...

    Canary Islands

We spent a week in Lanzarote last year and did a couple of day trips to other islands using Binter airlines. Our favourite by far was La Palma where we hired a taxi for the day. I have a thing for volcanoes so the sights were incredible. Lanzarote wasn't really that exciting IMO, but it was good...

Article: The Surprising European Flight Delay Trend

Yes, we had two instances of this in Europe this month. One plane arrived 1hr 56mins late and the other 1hr 57mins late. Compensation kicks in at the 2hr mark. Both were on BA.

    Mainly Namibia

You need a BP for the Qantas internal bus from Gate 15. There's a free T1 bus that runs from the front of the terminal across to the international terminal (T1). No boarding pass required.

    Qantas A220 Flight Review/s

We were booked on an A220 flight from CBR to MEL last week that was shifted back over an hour. Thankfully we were notified the day before. I had to reschedule as it would have caused a misconnection. We did end up flying on the A220 at 6am instead. I asked the crew about the time change for the...

Travel/Medical Insurance for 12 months travel

What you need to look for is a single trip policy. In most cases you can put in dates up to 1 year. If you search on the internet for "long term travel insurance" you'll get quite a few options. You don't want a multi-trip policy, because as you say, these are designed for people doing multiple...

    Flighty app

In general I'm not that concerned about historical data. For me there are enough good features for current and future flights to outweigh the negatives. As you say, it's not perfect and I do wish they had a persistent list of notifications - sometimes I'm busy and dismiss alerts then have no...

Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

This is from the eticket for an up coming flight. Admittedly it's to Bangkok, but it's clearly noted the flight is operated by Finnair. Perhaps the issue is with your corporate travel arranger and not Qantas?

Qantas Frequent Flyer changes coming in early 2024

I'd like to see improvements in partner relationships, including better earning and redemption options across the board. Oneworld and other alliances are typically behaving like spouses on the cusp of divorce. Of course I understand the economic drivers, but I'm sick of being one of the...

    Flighty app

I don't use Tripit Pro anymore so others might be better placed to comment. In general I found Tripit Pro too flaky (delays in gate info, missing change notifications for example), and the things I really valued from Tripit were available in the free version. What I like about Flighty may well...

    Flighty app

It's my new favourite travel app. Yes, it does sync with Tripit. Change notifications are pretty good, but I have had one or two which seem wrong. In fairness, the 'error' range isn't much different than EF. The bit I really love (for no apparent reason - it just appeals to my inner geek :) )...
