Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

But, see, that's the thing. You still chose to fly VA. So the Bain strategy is working.

What are your air travel micro-hacks?

Yeah, very important particularly with yoghurt in the low pressure cabin, and definitely qualifies as a micro hack. Have the tab pointing towards the seat in front, and pull up and towards self.

How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Stayed at Sydney Hilton two nights ago. First time since the new exec lounge opened on L1. Our room upgrade was actually a downgrade. It was to exec floor (L36) in the area where the old exec lounge was, and where they have now squeezed in more rooms. Our room was much smaller (narrower)...

Best Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance in the new COVID World?

Just looking at renewing ours (a couple, ie two people) now. Cover-more through Virgin Australia seems okay at $618 for the Plus cover, jumps up to $907 for 45 day trip duration. QF twice the price.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

It's refreshment and then a full-on lunch later in the flight, including the famous satay (in J). That would be my preference (instead of breakfast and a later refreshment) - I can have breakfast in the hotel or lounge.

    Superannuation Discussion + market volatility

I think a common strategy where you have an existing pension a/c is: (1) keep open a small amount in your accum a/c, (2) contribute funds to that accum a/c, (3) rollover the pension a/c balance into the accum a/c and close the pension a/c, (4) open a new pension a/c (with the entire balance if...

    Changi Overnight strategy

What everyone else said about SG immigration speed and ease. I would recommend Village Hotel Changi Village, particularly with children, two pools and there is a lot of parkland, playgrounds and seaside at Changi Beach, can stretch the legs in the morning. As well as a great hawker centre. And a...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

To be fair, if I'd received such a small number of beans, I'd count them too.

Article: Toastie Wars: Qantas Club vs Virgin Lounge

Yes, VA did have toasties before QF, but VA's "enhancement" of deleting the ham is just one more nail in the coffin for me of continuing loyalty to VA. It will be a dark day some time in the future if I finally have to admit that QF is the better option, after all my decades of bagging them.

Mm, maybe there was an equipment change also, in your case.

Yep, SQ is vastly better in economy and you have plenty of SQ flights SIN-BNE-SIN to choose from. Much better food, comfortable seats, great service, more reliable, fewer delays.
