    General Medical issues thread

Company reps and hospital cardiac techs know their stuff particularly checking pacemakers and troubleshooting. Cardiac ward nurses are au fait with arrhythmias and recognising pacemaker problems but most would not be comfortable doing pacemaker checks and would not reprogram pacemakers without...

Maybe you had some haemodynamic instability and they were checking your pacemaker arrhythmia log for irregularities (your remote monitor would have been at home and unable to communicate with your pacemaker if in hospital). Maybe you had radiotherapy and we like checking if there’s been damage...

Sounds like your device is remotely monitored. The clinic receiving your data would be contacting you if anything significant happened (arrhythmias, electromagnetic interference such as what happened on 5/3, any hardware issues). Essentially the only difference between remote pacemaker...

Article: Most of today's flights to Sydney are sold out due to Taylor Swift

Oh to be a middle-aged white man and to think it’s only your opinion that matters…. You’d believe “The Man” was about another failed T Swift relationship and miss how it resonates with young girls.

Article: Most of today's flights to Sydney are sold out due to Taylor Swift

Just looked at my Tokyo Dome tickets—recording from mobiles allowed, no professional photography equipment. This is six rows from the stage from Bruno, not a lot of mobiles in front and everybody is seated for Chunky so tiny me was able to see everything. I was four rows from the stage for...

And Tay Tay last night. Didn’t ask permission for mobile in Sydney nor in Tokyo.

Article: Most of today's flights to Sydney are sold out due to Taylor Swift

Pretty sure this isn’t right. I watched Bruno Mars in Tokyo Dome in January and most people had their phones out. Hardly anybody singing so the arena was a bit dead, yet mobiles still out.

Reaching and maintaining High Status - What do you do?

All my travel is self-funded. I’ve never done a status run. I don’t enjoy being on a plane so I try to keep flying times to a minimum and don’t do creative routings. I do 2-3 short international trips a year on QF/QR mostly, one or two of which are partly for a conference. Enough for platinum...

Concert Tickets via AMEX Platinum Card concierge

A colleague got four VIP tickets for a T Swift show in Melbourne through her concierge without going through Ticketek when tickets were initially released. When she requested four additional ones some months later, concierge couldn’t source it for her. As a Platinum Charge holder I had to go...

Will Qantas Offer Double Status Credits before Mooted FF Program Changes in 2024?

Did you get a confirmation email? For some reason I can’t make it work.

    Platinum Concierge Cancelled?

I got help for restaurant bookings in Sydney over the weekend and in Japan two weeks ago, and Bruno Mars concert tickets last month.

Sustained would be a few beats in a row, how many tends to be arbitrary. Premature atrial contractions (PACs) and premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are just an extra beat every so often; they don’t happen in a row but they can be frequent which seems to be the case with you. It would be...

    General Medical issues thread

An ablation for non-sustained atrial or ventricular ectopics is an over-kill. I’ve never heard of anyone doing an ablation for premature atrial contractions because they often arise from multiple sites; you would just be chasing atrial ectopics and creating extensive scar—this is simply not...

    eSims, what is your experience.

Airalo was a big fizzer during my 2-week trip to Madrid and Barcelona this month. Since I was just visiting Spain I picked the country-specific eSIM which roamed using one of their bigger telcos Movistar. I never had any reliable connection and only wound up using 0.34GB of the 5GB paid for. I...

    Check-In at Airport Message

To be crystal clear, I am not attempting to check in. I know it’s not possible to do so before the 24 hour mark. I’ve seen “check in opens 24h prior to your flight” ALWAYS—I can even see that message on flights I have as far out as December, but this “check in at the airport” I’ve never seen...

    Check-In at Airport Message

Further to this thread, there is a “check in at the airport” message on my QF ADL-SYD flight on Monday evening. No international connection. Usually MMB says “check in opens 24 hours prior to your flight.” I don’t remember ever seeing this message on a direct domestic flight before.
