Amex Platinum $200 "Dining credit" towards a list of Global Restaurants

Going to explore the Pocket Concierge system as I am heading to Japan soon. Looks like you book and pay online, then the restaurant will know what you ordered.

    Hilton Honors discussion

Looks like Wyndham and Ovolo Hotels have a new partnership. From September 2025, you can no longer earn Hilton nights and points at Ovolo Hotels in Australia under the SLH partnership: https://www.hospitalitynet.org/news/4128350.html

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Finally got my ITIN linked to Amex with a new Green Card (only the normal SUB at this point, don't think the 60k + 200 is happening for a while). I guess YMMV but during the bonus period 1:2.6 for MR -> Hilton doesn't sound half bad (40k MR -> 104k HH points). But open to airlines if a bonus...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Only a call would work - I use the numbers through the app. Even the APAC call centre would know about the free night certificates. Any booking past 10pm AEST should be done through the US call centre.

    IHG Hotels that recognise status

Stayed there when it was a Courtyard. Yep, saw lots of families at breakfast during that time, a cheaper alternative to the city hotels. If you booked for the weekend sometimes it was $160 ish with breakfast and parking. Helps that parking prices isn't bad either and the metro is not too far...

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

For a Liverpool resident WSI would be closer (probably a 15 minute drive after the M12 opens), but SYD isnt too bad either (25-30 minutes or so). Don't mind either way, wonder what the fares would be like to start off with on the Triangle routes. Also would be interested to see what are the...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I realised we needed to submit the documents on the Amex Document site, can't be done via chat apparently.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Needing an extra step for card verification could be the difference, noticed that with Mastercard. When I paid using my US Amex it accepted the Qantas Marketplace gift card purchase without any verification.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Chase Sapphire Reserve officially now up to $795 annual fee with a big coupon book, Preferred still at $95. Elevated 75k offer, but not as big as the 100k one a few months ago.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Interesting, paying through PayPal AU with a US Amex works regardless of the Billing Address but looks like the same might not work for Chase... Something to consider then.

Credit Card Offers CommBank Ultimate Awards Card: 100K award points – potentially fee free

Clarification on the monthly bonus points according to the T&Cs: Noting that the first statement period is quite early, giving the cardholders time to get the physical card. Although there is the option to get it digitally now so you can start spending it early. So given that the second...

IHG Instant Silver, Gold and Platinum Fast Track for 2025

I chose the Gold Elite instant status, wouldn't know how the double nights would have went.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Yep, Wise is the safest method to pay off the Amex bill - noting the small fee to pay when you are converting from AUD to USD

IHG Instant Silver, Gold and Platinum Fast Track for 2025

Instant Gold Elite for 2025 or double nights for a month now on, also clicking through the Loyaltylobby website mentioned initially.

    Qantas Wine latest offering

Yep, it was there - $50 voucher and the PC+ discount for one bottle makes it 228.69 pts / $. With the triple points its 4,175 points in total. Great stuff.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I am still on myUS - Australia Post was an option and I think it got replaced with Aramex. Cheaper, but definitely takes longer for the card to arrive. If it is needed for a SUB then DHL is the go to one but for a replacement one then no rush so I go for Aramex.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Sounds like US global mail is cheaper than myUS these days if it takes only 10 USD to send a US credit card mail. From what I can see it is a subscription service. YMMV depending on the number of cards you get approved for.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Yep got a surprise about the FX rate crashing today, decided to cop it and pay the US Amex bill. On the other hand, the Qantas FX sale with bonus points looked really good, was over 0.6 USD earlier today and locked it in.
