Air India $4700 return Melbourne to Zurich

Obviously won't appeal to everyone, but sub $5k for lie-flat J to Europe in peak summer is pretty solid, despite the less than ideal layover times. Air India are in the midst of a rebranding effort, but the seats are still quite old, in a 2-2-2 configuration on the B787-8. Other dates...

    United - AKL-EWR - 3505 NZD Return Business

Yeah, got a one-way to DFW with a 3 month stopover in SYD on sale :) Let's see if UA will let us fly...

    Your longest trip point-to-point?

Pretty easy all things considered - LIRR to Penn station, walked around Times Square, eventually got NJ transit to EWR. Cost about 30USD all up in transport I mean, yes, but where's the fun in that? Westbound only travel is next on the list :P

What is 'priority' worth to you?

All interesting and valuable comments, thanks everyone! I guess for me, it depends very much on the flight itself - I would 100% pay for priority boarding on a low cost carrier, as overhead space is at a premium and being able to travel with just a carry-on (and subsequently leave the airport...

    Your longest trip point-to-point?

Thanks for the kind words, and good luck with CLT - my original flight (AA2794) did end up leaving, albeit at 2am, getting to EWR at about 4am. The lounge agent got me on the only slightly delayed CLT-JFK flight - very glad for the certainty.

    Your longest trip point-to-point?

At CLT right now - starting to seriously wonder what horrible things I did in a past life to make me this... special. CLT-EWR is delayed, but I should be fine for SQ21 :D Edit: Also, a correction to my maths from before. It's actually 73.5 hours of travel, bringing the speed from DPS-CGK to a...

What is 'priority' worth to you?

I'm thinking here of priority check-in, boarding and maybe baggage. Some airlines are monetising this - Etihad offer "Priority Access" for 40USD including all 3 things, while Scoot offer "Board me first" for around 5SGD. So how much do you think these benefits are worth each time you fly? And...

    Your longest trip point-to-point?

So I have 2 nights in hotels at either end at DPS and CGK, but the breakdown is as follows: SYD-DPS JQ Y DPS-SYD QF Y (hopefully upgrade to J) SYD-LAX AA PE LAX-ORD AA Y (MCE) ORD-CLT-EWR AA Dom F EWR-SIN SQ PE SIN-CGK SQ Y CGK-SYD QF J Between DPS and CGK, I have 48.5 hours in planes and...

    Your longest trip point-to-point?

I don't know if this counts, but on Thursday I do DPS-SYD-LAX-ORD-CLT-EWR-SIN-CGK without a night in a hotel. I just really really wanted to get to Jakarta it seems

Interesting special request option on Mongolian Airlines

According to ET based on one comment from a MIAT executive, who says they'd like to be in OW at some stage. Don't really think that one has many legs. Interestingly though, MIAT also allowed you to input a FF number from pretty much every SkyTeam airline, but not any of it's codeshare partners...

Article: The Best Programs for Earning Oneworld Status

I'd 100% agree that having lounge access all the time flying domestically is better than a chance of a better seat. But more that it's a point of difference to non-US based Oneworld status, who can get lounge access but can't get upgrades. Is it better that way? For an AA or AS elite, probably not.

Article: The Best Programs for Earning Oneworld Status

I guess this is balanced by upgrades? Although from the US bloggers I've read, this seems to be an extremely difficult benefit to materially use, as AA sells domestic F quite well.

Finding availability from Dubai to Australia

The easiest way for me to check for exDXB is to add SYD-MEL on the front - it shouldn't cause any POS issues compared to using Europe, and there's nearly always availability. QF codeshares don't care about status, and aren't useful at all in determining award availability. This is still up to...

Finding availability from Dubai to Australia

If you're finding Qantas availability from Dubai-Australia on Seats.aero, then that could only be 1 seat - Seats.aero only searches for 1 seat on Qantas. If you're finding Skywards availability on Seats.aero, that does not apply at all to Qantas. You need Classic Saver award availability to...

Premium Economy MEL or SYD to LAX

For August 2025, the calendar wouldn't open until 12 days after your departure date, in 2024. Bear in mind that Qantas may not actually release Classic Reward seats then though. For 4 people, you may struggle to get all Premium Economy. Not to say it's impossible, but manage your expectations...

Pm me if interested If you can tell me a joke that would be greatly appreciated - note quality of joke will not have any bearing on the lounge pass, it's first in best dressed :P

Sydney Morning Herald article on cheap business class tickets to Europe from Asia

I could be biased, but it's just a poor man's version of this: https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/strategies-cheap-business-class-europe/ All it does is quote Business class fares from Australia, and then give a couple of examples of cheaper fares from certain ports such as MNL, KUL and...
