From Googlefu skills many overseas hiltons do trigger the aspire credit on online prepaid rates. Hilton Tokyo Bay comes up a lot as an example. Apparently international Hiltons are set up differently in the back end? Or something like that.

If you did indeed book onto Oman Air then that doesn't count for a 318k ticket because it isn't a oneworld carrier. So the whole ticket is calculating distances and prices segment by segment for all flights even the oneworls flights.

That is the rule for HSBC, yes. Like with wverything, there is a human element involved. With some agents you can just say "trust me bro" and they will make you premier immediately. Others, understandably, will not and you need to do the 9k transfers for 6 months.

I just gave them the details they asked for and everything was fine. My experience is that this is just a procedure they follow, not being vindictive towards applicants. Usually if you just do what they ask everything is fine.

I would guess that NY City in particular, maybe not the whole state, has an attitude towards undocumented migrants which might make it easier to get a driver's license or similar ID compared to other states. Of course this would need an NY address I would assume

You may choose to do so, but my understanding is that alien non-residents don't need to pay tax on bonuses from banks. I am not a tax professional. I can't imagine the IRS would be upset at getting more money 🤷‍♂️
