Yeah that was the process, it's what worked last year (Got cancellation emails, card removed from Apple Wallet, but none of my subscriptions were interrupted and just had to re-add card to wallet after I told agent on phone to go ahead and reinstate).

Mm... as in a new thing? The meta last time I checked was they can't offer you retention - but if you actually go through and cancel the card, magically a "reactivation" bonus pops up in their system and they can reinstate the card in-place. Worked for me last statement period on the same card!

Tried to do the annual cancellation dance today and got no offer. Cancelled anyway - Finding AMEX to be pretty unhelpful particularly on the business side. My account rep is a lovely guy but he is basically chatGPT for the amex website and has never been able to help me with substantial account...

Any update here? I'm also surprised at the minimums being basically nothing re default insurance, sounds like you could be mega screwed if someone sues you for medical/car/property damage, 50k would be a drop in the bucket

Definitely depends on your accumulation circumstances for sure, but for me it's basically a no no. I acquire points at either free or ~2cents PP pre-tax. So for me it won't ever make a lot of sense to not use cash if there is a no-return possibility.

Just took AA J on awards, seemed pretty good to me. I like the seat better than QF J (no massager though) and the soft product was pretty good, prefer QF. VGML food, not even close but it wasn't terrible. Wouldn't be unhappy to do it again if no QF awards available.

I just booked a reward flight with AA through QF and realised I couldn't select seats.... Went to rj.com on whim and managed to select my seat on my totally unrelated flight so, thank you, I think? Lol

It's about 25 days out at this point and my gut instinct is that it won't change, I have watched a few of these and I don't remember seeing a change once it was positively set to the old bird. But - I really hope I'm wrong.

Most likely want the legal win, rather than the technical one, to be able to validly threaten others doing the same/deter new ones, vs arms race using a technical solution all the time.

Will be interested to see how the case plays out. Interestingly I couldn't find any language in Qantas' TOS that prohibits scraping last time I looked. If Aeroplan requires an account to view seat data like Qantas does I'd say seats.Aero has almost no chance of their suggested defence working.
