How to go to UK pre Olympics?

As the Irishman said, if that's where you're going I wouldn't start from here... Use points to get to say, Bali or KL and buy the remainder of the ticket from there. Someone like TK will always have a sale ex Indonesia/Malaysia/Thailand.

    Vinomofo Wine Deals

Have been gazumped several times on Vinomofo on high-class wines where they've taken the money double-quick but supplied nothing. Eventually an insulting message saying the wine won't be coming and they're keeping the funds for me as a "credit". And each time I've noticed those same bottles...

MEL reportedly best airport in Australia

No, OOL's a pain too. Just landed at Gold Coast airport from SYD and the taxi rank is gone. Seems Uber has bribed the airport to write "Uber" on all of the ten cab-spaces. A convoluted series of signs "Taxis this way" will direct you to a cab-rank in front of another building about 200m away...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Why would anyone mourn the disappearance of Qantas Classic Rewards? They're terrible. For example, SYD-PER business class: a) American Airlines 20,000 miles plus USD27 (for the same Qantas seat) b) Qantas Classic Reward, some massive amount, more than double both points and fees And now the...

Hello, I am a final year BSc student at The University of West London (UK) completing my final year dissertation on the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.

Survey done. Bear in mind that your sample is going to be skewed, respondents from this source are mostly experts on loyalty programs and are likely to be highly critical of the dreadful Qantas Frequent Flyer program.

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

10 investments we'd like to see for Qantas frequent flyers: Qantas lounge reception will have additional rebooking staff who can also do fly ahead... Fly-ahead - additional desks in the check-in area where staff will rebook gold and platinum flyers onto earlier flights when available .. and...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Investment - I think this could be an investment by someone else, Amex for example, in return for access to the Qantas Clubs for cardmembers. Amex already has a similar deal with Delta Skyclubs which are - in the words of Yogi Berra - so overcrowded that noone goes there anymore... ... edit...

Qantas Group HY24 Results: more A321XLRs ordered

Let me guess - like Delta they will do a deal with Amex to let cardmembers into the Qantas Club - duplicating the long lines of people waiting to go into Delta Skyclubs

Virgin Australia - Promo Codes (ongoing)

Wondering what happened to all the 10% off coupons this year, have they all dried up or is AFF just not showing them? Do we need to dig through the pages of RACV or wherever to get the code, like those Woolworths gift cards? Virgin Business Flyer is an alternative, has some benefits but all the...

Virgin Australia - Promo Codes (ongoing)

MCU43 still gets the same parsimonious 3.5% discount as Business Flyer, at least on on biz bookings, for those unwilling or unable to deal with Virgin Business Flyer.

Bonus VA status credits offer - March 2024

"The bonus Status Credits will be awarded at the conclusion of the campaign based on the total flights flown during the Promotion Period." Meaning it's useless for anyone whose review date is in the next 3 months and looking for a boost towards their renewal. This promo is just too...

How did you feel about losing your airline/hotel elite status?

Losing QF Gold and Hilton Diamond after 10 years. Like many of your respondents above, I avoid Qantas these days but QFGold was useful for lounges on other Oneworld carriers - though they all seem to suffer from overcrowding these days. (Heathrow Galleries South? Seething scrummage. North is...

Platinum devalued [Hard to Effectively Use Platinum Upgrades]

Bali - ugh, sitting up all night on the way home with not even a blanket. no, anyway this is a terrible time to buy any Virgin ticket, any air ticket in fact. Assuming that "in Oct" is a misprint, you mean you want to fly soon but there's no flight to Perth with 2 biz award seats till Oct...

    Selecting tier benefits

Yes had the same problem, called the call centre and was told they will do nothing. The process, if you insist on continuing with Virgin, is for the client to send them an email outlining the problem and maybe someone will read it sometime.

    Which upgrade comes first?

Aha now we understand what's meant by Upgrade-Waitlist. It's a misnomer, you're not waitlisted for anything. If a biz award seat does come available at any time, that "waitlist" will do nothing. [And to get that seat you need to cancel your upgrade request and put it in again.] What is DOES...

    Which upgrade comes first?

The points-upgrade-waitlist has never worked for me. When a J award seat comes available it does nothing. Needed to remove the upgrade request and put it in again to get the upgrade to go thru. 1694578262 I suppose it might be processing once per day or something

    Schedule Change Updates

An extra flight between Perth and Sydney in Dec, dep PER 11.15 am, SYD 1.55pm, with comparatively heaps of classic award availability. Ostensibly offering one award seat per flight in J of course, but if you book that seat a second one may pop up in 24 hrs.

CEO retiring, what changes at Qantas would you like to see

Just one thing I would like the new CEO to say - the thieving stops now. 1.No more thieving the customers, all credits will immediately be refunded to the original form of payment. And no more begging money from the taxpayer then immediately shovelling it into shareholders pockets via a...
