Soap Thieves - don't feel guilty ........

Yep gotta grab that soap. Nothing else though. That shampoo would take your scalp off.

There have been various properties i've been to that have excellent amenities (The Standard in Los Angeles, some W properties and some smaller boutique hotels).

I've found some with almost 100mL size shampoo that is better than the stuff I typically have at home. A few bucks a day over a few days with a polite note to housekeeping to 'replenish' stocks and you typically get a dozen or so. Great for the guest bedroom or the 1L zip-loc baggy!

I never felt guilty taking hotel amenities, after all they are included in the room rate.
Some products are better then others, not everything is worth taking home just because it's free.

My problem is usually getting housekeeping to leave enough soap for use while I'm there!

Turn down service is normally a good way to increase the stock ;) I have only discovered some products after using them at hotels.

Recycled Soap. Just doesn't sound right to me, the mind boggles

When you think back 10-15 years and the turndown you get now, it really is a dying service.

I just think anytime you pass a service cart in the hallway is opportune time to increase your stocks.

I spend 60 to 80 nts a year in hotels in China and turndown is full and complete in every 5* hotel .............. = ............... lots of soap souveniring opportunities.

I've never felt guilty ;) I usually BYO my own shampoos, wash etc though as I don't like to consume 'just for the sake of it / because I can'. The less we consume, the less they produce, the less impact I have on this earth - and you can call me a greenie? ;) That said, from time to time I will take toiletries if the product is of good spa beauty brand - usually found staying in nicer hotels/resorts.

I don't take home the shampoos or soaps, even for the hotels where Ive loved their shampoo.

Now toothbrushes on the other hand - the only thing my hubby takes, possibly has ever taken as hes very honest, are the toothbrushes.

I try to stop him but I cant supervise him 24/7. Hes especially bad on planes so my apologies to those that cant find a toothbrush on SQ, it means my hubby got there first.

The Peter Roth stuff is a constant in my gym bag, and I use it all up, nothing wasted. I even take an occasional Hilton laundry bag - I find them ideal to contain my sweaty gym clothes during the working day. I'm sure my colleagues appreciate the lack of odor from my work area. I also have a cloth Sofital laundry bag - I keep that one nice-and-clean: it's for storing my shirts/clean things.

Ihg have gone to the extent of putting many amenities in a "complimentary" box, so people get the message.

Hotels in China are the best and so is the service. At Conrad Sanya and Conrad Macau I got a choice of 3 different luxury amenities.
Sorry, did I say choice? I got them all! :D

Jeez I really need a spud bag to lug home the toiletries from the Suites that IC give me in Nanjing - but no "complimentary" box - maybe I should request one next week.
