I know its a bit of a lottery when and where a WL will clear in my favour, but here's what I have done ( Suites/F Class only)

1/ ensure I have enough points to stack as many waitlists as I need in KF account

2/ go for all combinations of me, my partner, me and my partner etc

3/ I always put me as 1st wait list so if it clears just for me I can call KF and plead to release for partner

4/ get a firm seat on something I can cancel for nominal penalty so at least I know I am going; Just a question of "in how much style"

5/ look at F/Suites to nearby hubs and so as get a short haul to my final destination if I have to

6/ book lots of one way sectors so if one clears I try to call KF to get others released to get me where I want to go

My experience is that WL generally won't clear until sometime in week before travel, then cross ones fingers ;)

What do others do/experience for Suites/F Class?

Do you allocate your seats on confirmed bookings that you hope you can cancel if your waitlisted flight is cleared?

Always wondered if it made a difference one way or the other.

i manually got a waitlist cleared by calling up 4 hours before depature going from Delhi to Singapore in F. depends how flexible you can be I guess.

only other suggestions/ questions would be:
a) do you hold any status?
b) do you check expertflyer or similar for the flights you are trying to waitlist to see loads? (i.e. to knock out any flights that have no chance of ever clearing)

I always allocate seats on confirmed bookings, so I get what I desire.

I don't has SG staus and I generally ring in the week ahead to see if maybe they can speak to the people controlling inventory to see if they can clear a WL.

It has worked occasionally

What has worked is flying back from CDG I had a long wait to connect to my confirmed 777 F seat to SYD. On arrival at SIN I went to the transfer desk and asked if there was a spare seat on the earlier A380 Suite?

There was a seat and the Duty Manger ok'ed the change

The WL however for that earlier A380 never cleared??

Go figure!

happy days.....

Good summary Infinity. There is also the strategy to be adopted with the mixed 'Confirmed' & 'Waitlisted' sectors on the same booking. The confirmed sectors will cancel after three days. In these cases i've been rolling to a complete new booking each three days.

Sorry not quite sure I understand?

When I have been trying to book MEL-SIN-ZRH I can get MEL-SIN as Confirmed Saver plus the SIN-ZRH is Saver Waitlist. If the Waitlist doesn't clear within the three days then I'm left with a booking that has just the waitlisted SIN-ZRH sector and the MEL-SIN sector is gone. In this case, I cancel that first booking and start again.

I find that many times one part of the flight clears e.g. SYD SIN and the other doesn't then when you don't ticket as you can't! the first flight drops off
then you have to start again.
which is typical sing air.
only half a brain works.

Just had SQ212 F class clear for 2/1/15 (was confirmed in J)

Happy about this, have only ever been in suites so interested to try the other F product even though not the new 777ER F.

Am wait listed same day for the later A380 suites and also the SQ 222 which is the new 777-ER F product.

Fingers crossed but first world problems ;)))

Confirmed to MXP from SYD in R then F on Friday.
Return is R then F out of CDG
+1 is J from CDG and wait listed for R. Cabin already has 6seats taken so me thinks no chance??
She is F from SIN to SYD on separate PNR any ideas of how to get the seat cleared from CDG??
