Just wanted to gain some feedback about waitlisted flights on SQ of late.. Have been awaiting response for past two days about a flight on Waitlist status CAN/SIN/BNE due to depart on 15 JUL 2012.. Seems flights are heavily loaded SIN/BNE but rarely I have problems with SQ Waitlist - Clearance is usually within few hours timeframe.. Have option B. up my sleeve.. Though interested to hear about others SQ waitlists clearing of late..
Cheers,
jl :D

I'd be interested too as I'm waiting on one! First since moving from bmi to sq. as pps do I get more chance?

PPS should opt you up in the Q!

SQ are being really tight of late in releasing any seat availability.. I'm still waiting (in vain) first time I've experienced Waitlist not being cleared or informed of such.. Oz bound flights must be so busy  Looks like a default to plan B..

Oz bound flts are indeed chockers at moment on SQ - on Fri 13th every J seat on all 3 flts into MEL full.

I have several sectors as far out as Nov 8 that have been waitlisted for 3 weeks now - but I also think further glitches in SQ web site as just checked site and SIN-MEL sector on Nov 8 showing as waitlisted in my PEK-SIN-MEL booking is showing available if i just plug in SIN-MEL - will call KF as soon as I can get this new over complicated you beaut in house netyworked phone system to start up.

Sure.. I also suspect the glitch mode.. &/or combo of SQ 'tightening up" :(
But the big Q is what is the deal with all the OZ bound flights being so full..

I'm still waiting found 1 today with a long layover in sin but by the time I thought about it, it had gone! Grr

... I can relate to that scenario!!! Damn.... I points J slum opt it to 'Singarich" & gonna layover & Scoot it back to OZ as an alternate.. The Champagne & lovely service was flowing so 'freely" on my SQ lightly loaded 10/30 pax in J flight down to Changi from CAN today.. Guess it's gonna be like 'chalk & cheese" on comparative values with Scoot - as expected...

Gave up and booked with CX instead. 30k more points and ANNOYING herringbone seats but at least it is confirmed!

Wait list never cleared but was on the website and managed to book the flights I wanted. So cancelled cx as it was held not confirmed and ended up on sq.

The SQ revenue management system sucks. What happen is they hold inventory for sales only but not allows to rebook. It is really not a matter of how long of the wait list or how much time required to clear a booking.

Here is my personal experience:
I booked a flexible ticket on "H" class from Singapore to Sydney with the cost of $x. The ticket is free for day and flight change.
Due to change of plan, I decided to re-book the inbound flight on 01 Jan where I found the same price ticket $x is available for sale on SQ.com on the 01 Jan. However, when I call the SQ reservation, they keep saying there is not "H" class available, and only "B" class as minimum. The only solution they have is to get 8th Jan asthe earlier "H" class available after 1 Jan or pay extra S$200 to upgrade one way from "H" to "B". They said ticket available for sales does not mean you can get that with your issued ticket! Obviously, they restrict your accessability to flight once your ticket has been issued. Thats is very doggy and they always try not to get you a seat unless you are yet to pay..........
Anyone of you have a issued ticket may try, you will see how ridiculous is this airline and I shall NEVER fly again. Sucker!

Try seeing if your travel agent can change it for you? maybe they can assure you. OR, if you are going through a travel agent, try doing it direct.

With all due respect, that has not been my experience with them. They have, in fact, always been fairly accommodating even when I had no status with them and tried as much as possible to get the revenue management controllers to issue a confirmation for me onto the flight that I want.

H is not the most flexible fare on SQ - it is actually below W; E B Y and S are the Flexi fares. Having said that however, you can change H fares for no charge I believe and if you see the same fare on the site for the flight that you want, you should point that out to them and escalate the case. Given that the website is dodgy at the moment, I'm not surprised if this is simply a case of there actually being no availability but the site telling you there is. If that was the case, the website would then spit out an error just before the payment page saying the flight cannot be confirmed.

Last week I was organising an itinerary for the end of August travelling to Ph. I had a combination of flights travelling via SIN into/out of Phils with SilkAir and SQ redemptions on Waitlist. As of Friday I had 5 different combinations of waitlisted itins with dates and destinations depending upon what became available.

As of this morning, two acceptable itineraries have cleared which have been ticketed by the Contact Centre.

There were certainly conflicting messages via the website over the weekend during their maintenance periods as could be expected.

Also, I notice they have new onhold music.

Waitlists experience: some do clear, some quick, some slow, some never.

If we are talking awards
I was on a waitlist LAX_SIN in F and it cleared 24 hrs out only.
I had a backup flight which I cancelled.

Im looking to book a flight to London, either economy or business using Krisflyer miles (saver tickets). However, both types are currently waitlist. I dont mind either but obviously prefer Business.

I currently have 1x Business and 1xEconomy waitlisted (on 2 different days). Im wondering, if the Economy ticket clears and I pay for it using my miles- is it possible to then refund/cancel this ticket (without penalities) and then instead use my points for the Business ticket if that clears before my departure date?

thanks

You can for a small (dollar) fee - see http://www.australianfrequentflyer....meframe-cancel-sq-award-41844.html#post657012.

Also, note that once a waitlist clears you normally have a significant amount of time available before you must ticket it. So if the Y waitlist clears you can just sit on it - without ticketing / paying for it - and see if the J waitlist also clears before the ticketing deadline on a Y waitlist comes around.

I think that this significant length of time is a significant positive benefit of initially doing a booking with a pseudo waitlisted flight which has a good chance of clearing. Helps with cashflow as doesn't need to be paid until 2-3 weeks before the flight.
