... of Western Civilization?

Seriously could we have a sticky with an appropriate title in the forums that highlights the facts that the cessation of the JSA between QF and BA and the entering of a JSA between EK and QF does not mean the following:

- Inability to use points on BA
- Inability to use points on CX
- BA OWE pax can't use QF F lounges

Maybe a thread that can be updated as certain things get clarified (SC earn on EK flights for example).

I will start another post below with some of the headings I think we need. People are joining and posting that the relationship between QF and CX has ended which is very far off the mark.

Re: Sticky thread explaining the difference between JSA and Oneworld and the collapse

1 - What has been announced

2 - What is a JSA

3 - What did the JSA mean for BA and QF

4 - What is the direct impact on Oneworld

5 - What might this mean for OW?

6 - How does this impact earning (points, status bonus, status credits) on the new JSA route?

7 - How does this impact earning (points, status bonus, status credits) on the the old BA route?

8 - What lounges can I access flying:

On EK in Oz
On QF metal
On QF flight number (codeshare)
Flying OW

9 - What else do I need to know

Simon, seriously why are you evidently prejudiced against first and new posters. Some of us may be new to post on AFF but have extensive travel experience to share, are Platinum over multiple airlines, not to mention life time gold with QF. The posts I see on the QF EK are clearly articulated as speculative. A little respect would be appreciated.

I don't see it as prejudice. I think the problem is people who get on here and just say absolutely wrong things that clearly demonstrate they have failed to do even a basic amount of reading into the detail of the QF/EK agreement.

A sticky that outlines the basics of the deal, even if it repeats what is in the official FAQ is a good idea.

So given you have extensive travel experience you won't be posting things like "given the agreement with EK I won't now be able to fly on a QF award om CX". Don't you think that having a place where the first google search of "impact of qantas emirates alliance on my flights" links you to an informed sticky about the impact of the qf and EK alliance on your flights rather than a string in a thread along the lines of "due to the Emrates and qantas alliance I won't be able to use my points om Cathay pacific?" would be better.

I don't have a bias against new posters. Many people fly more than me and know more than me. I do thin that there is arise that people are stating as fact on a very popular website things that are completely wrong. I also think that people here who know the facts have an obligation to post the correct info and to make sure people are informed and not panicked.

I fail to see the prejudice. There have been questions raised regarding the implications of the EK deal, and instead of trying to find answers in 1000 + posts, a sticky is a very good idea.

That is a really good idea. Just the facts would be good as lots of us don't have time to read through the thousands of posts in the main thread.

Of course we need to know the details of the EK-QF deal, especially whether status credits will be earned on EK (as to be fair on Simongr he observed on another thread) not to mention many other issues, such as will Platinum disappear to align with the bigger carrier, what will happen with foreward bookings post April 2013, etc.

No problem in speculation though, surely, including whether to burn or accrue points/status in anticipation...we'll all know once the details are actually posted publicly by QF and EK, but not until then...
