It would appear I have been POCked ;)

x,xx_ points removed

07/10/2008 Group - POC Low engaged V2

Happened in the past hour or so. ow to decide whether to call...

So the POCing continues... It is yet to happen to me but I am expecting it soon.

Does anyone reasonable have hypotheses about the most rational and potentially effective reactions to a POC? (I don't care what the gaming commission or Qantas would say!) It appears POCing is quite systemic so I am not sure that a 2 month wait remains the best course of action. Is there any chance a delay could be taken as acceptance?

EDIT Removed a comment that has been adressed.

That was all the points that I had. I had initial bonuses which I moved to SPG before 30 Sep to take advantage of the better SPG rate at that time.
Thanks.
Did you sign up (and get bonus points) for more than one promo code, or did you just plug in the one you received on the postcard (if you got a postcard). I know there were some people who reported getting bonuses for all three promo codes.

Or is does this look more like AMEX are trying to reel back any bonus points earned, even if earned on just one promo code?

No postcard - was able to sign up using the "open to all invitation" that was on the main splash page of the website.

I just checked my Qantas Frequent Flyer Account and 10,000 points have just gone in. I signed my Qantas AMEX card up on 29 September and had 10 transactions by the end of September.

Then I went to check my MR account and it shows that 2 lots of 5000 points were awarded.

Thats' good, right.

But I thought it was not supposed to show up for 8-10 weeks.

Hope they don't take it back

so how many promotion exactly have you enrolled?

i enrolled two, 5k per 5 trans, and 5k per 10 trans. i got postcard for the 5k/5 tran.

so i earned 15k points extra from the 5k/10 trans, then they got removed. so i am not too worried, because i prob shouldn't earn those at the first place. but i won't be happy if i am not in the old t&c, simply because i got the card, and pre-19th.

I am thinking of compiling some sort of stats about this POC phenomenon seeing there are more and more people getting POC-ked. If you think this is a good idea and would like to participate in the stats, please PM me with the following:

* Received postcard?
* if yes, what was the targetted promo - 5k/5t, 5k/10t or 10k/20t?
* Date of registering for promo
* Registered promo - 5k/5t, 5k/10t or 10k/20t, or combo?
* Number of promo bonus points received so far
* Type of AMEX card - Qantas, Reward Maximiser, etc.
* POC date
* POC wording? - e.g. Group - POC Low engaged V2
* [optional] Did you have your entire MR balance removed?
* [optional] if no, how many points were removed?

I'll not post username so they can remain anonymous.

I think it's easier if I post a new thread about this once I have a few stats coming in. Otherwise it would be very difficult to keep track of the numbers after a while!

Mods, let me know if you think it's better to post the stats in this thread rather than on a new thread.

As for me - not POC-ked yet.

POC free; I did receive two lots of 5K - they went to SPG last week ;)

- no reductions as yet.

I suspect and expect there to be a lot of tranfers of points out of AMEX before the POC strikes:shock:

I suspect and expect that there were a lot of transfers of points out of AMEX before 30 September (particularly to SPG>AA, irrespective of being POCked), due to the higher conversion rate.

Of course, I only transferred out points earned previous to the promo, so they can't argue about those. I have retained the bonus points and all points earned during the promo.

That is extrange.... I wonder how did you signed for the promo on the 29th when the New T&C was already out. And the new T&C says clearly Qantas-Amex Cards not Welcome

Well I am over it like the rest of everyone I suppose

I have done what I can do

Written Compliant Lodged with ASIC and Telephone with ACCC

Will now just sit back and wait for thw outcome

I will now even block the AFF website so this does not irritate me any more

If I get my "unlimited Points" Woo Hoo a happy AMEX customer

If not after 8-10 weeks from 31 December 2008 I will dump my amex card I will use them for any extra point given but if they go against the promotion like I will sit back wait for the second prize of EG 30,000 point and just cancel the card

Good luck to all

So what did AFF do to make this worse for you?

You could exercise some self control and not visit the site. Actually how do you "block" a website? Surely it is more work to do that than simply not go to the website?

OT: New members contribute

Well, while this Amex promotion may have drawn a quite a few new AFF members (and some seem quite OTT), I would hope that most having visited here would look around and see what a wealth of information is available here and assimilate/contribute well into the future. (perhaps not so much ½ truths)

FWIW, I received quite an abrupt PM from a long term member after my first day of posting here, some 47 months ago. I got over it and have come to appreciate this forum immensely.
