I'm currently overseas and wondering if I apply and they ask for the 100 points of ID at the post office/branch, if people have ever been able to ring up and convince htem to just mail the card to the Australian address? I might be gone for another few months but would like the card and can get a relative to bring the envelope from home to me when the meet me.

I don't know why any credit card provider would do that, should they need the 100 point check done. What you suggest may seem very suspicious to them.

Agree, they have these procedures in for a reason, including compliance with laws like the AML/CTF (anti money laundering/counter-terrorism) acts. There would be close to no chance I would suspect of them doing this, there would be all sorts of red flags about this.

A lot of credit card providers allow you to validate your ID online these days (using the "self service" functions of Medicare/Passports/Driver Licence issuers etc) rather than visiting a Post Office. So that could be an option if the issuer allows that.

It's a legal/government requirement. Perhaps not needed for a bank/institution you've already done a 100 point check for in the past (maybe within certain number of years) though?

I applied for a card once (I think ANZ) whilst still in Australia and I was able to go and do the ID check in the branch the day before I left, and once that was done they sent the card out the next week, and a family member who flew out late rbrought me th eenvelope with the details inside.

yep, did this with the Qantas staff credit union application recently

Should they need a 100 point check at the Branch, that's not going to happen soon is it, as you are already overseas?

Which credit card are you looking at applying for? Maybe someone can help with recent information.

Would love if if all providers did the online 100 point check, no need to provide the photocopy... (bad grammer!). I can verify the QSCU was easy with id checking.

All providers: include house / personal loans as well as other things needing 100 points.
