I received the email too. Isn’t it normally November?

i read it as “Stay tuned and Velocity will be in touch in October” meaning they will give more details in October

Good point, but surely they won’t dangle the carrot for that long. Would people even remember an email send a couple of months prior to a promotion?

Pretty sure this means the transfer bonus will start in October. That's the usual MO with these offers. Just found last year's emails:

26th October 2021: "xx_X, something exciting is coming"
1st November 2021: "20% bonus velocity points*" (from 1st November)

So expect another email on Saturday or Monday confirming the rate and with the offer kicking off on that day.

If you search for "virgin australia bank transfer points bonus" you get "Velocity Transfer Bonus - Transfer your reward points from participating partners to Velocity between 1 October 2022 and 25 October 2022 and receive 15% bonus Velocity Points".

Nice pickup. I can't see those details on the actual page, but it's in the meta tags if you look at the page source (that's what Google is picking up in the search results). Note that the different versions of the description have different start dates, but the second two both say *minimum* 15% so fingers crossed...

i recall previous years some credit card companies matching or increasing the bonus, ANZ comes to mind, any others people can remember?

The transfer homepage seems to have the programs divided into tiers, similar to the bonus that ran in May(?) of this year. Leads me to think that Citi etc. might get a higher bonus, then Amex and CommBank, then the rest.

this is what i'm hoping for!!! 240,000 points and would rather park in velocity until i need it than transfer direct to Kris, 20% bonus would incur a very small penalty in doing this which i would be willing considering the ability to keep points form expiring there.

You're in luck. You're getting 25% from Citi and a few others (BOQ, Diners, Suncorp), 20% from AMEX (Plat/Centurion) and ANZ and 15% from the rest: 15% bonus Velocity Points
