Hi,

We are flying into Dubai in July with a stop over before going on to Athens.

Has anyone used the International Hotel there at the airport? We can't work out if it's safe to book now given we don't know which gate etc; we will be going into?

Would appreciate any input.

Thanks.

Hi,

We're doing the same thing later in the year

8hrs overnight (Local Time) between flights and looking to book this hotel

Do we retrieve luggage? Or do we stay airside when using the hotel? Did you determine how best to book rooms without knowing the Gate number?

Surprisingly little advice on the EK website

If you are on EK metal to EK metal tickets, you will stay airside irrespective of gate. You transfer between all gates in Terminal 3 ( Emirates terminal) whilst staying airside. The airport hotel is also airside. I’m just not sure what happens to checked luggage if it is a long layover. But Emirates does have a service where they book you into the hotel if your connection is over a certain length of time, so it would seem they are happy to hold checked luggage for prolonged periods of time, just not sure how long that is.

I stayed in the airside hotel back in the previous decade, so not sure if this remains relevant. I was met at the gate by a hotel rep who escorted me to the hotel, which was an excellent service. My luggage went straight through to the next day's flight. I was booked in Y so not a perk of premium cabin or status. I'd check with the hotel if they still provide this service.

That’s really helpful info. Thanks very much to you both

If it’s on the one ticket your bags will be tagged through so you don’t need to collect bags.

I have stayed at this hotel and it’s great. It’s got a few different entrances, it breaks up the flying and gives you a bed for a decent sleep.

As noted by @BriarFlyer if you book direct with hotel you can put in flight numbers and request in comments someone to meet you at the gate and take you to the hotel (they usually confirm this but say it’s not guaranteed).

Lots of good food options nearby, also.

Emirates generally doesn’t use this hotel for transit stays when they are paying (above 8 hours). They generally make you clear customs and get bags and go to hotel outside airport grounds, which cuts into time a little if it’s an 8-12 hour transit.

Thanks also

Points redemption so two separate bookings but both EK metal. Exactly 8hrs transit. Happy to book and pay for the hotel myself. Might try and ‘manually’ organize bags to go through. I’ll see how malleable the check-in staff are in Jakarta.

Failing that I’ll speak to EK staff in Dubai and see if they can manually transfer them.

Yeah they should be able to check bags through if it’s EK to EK, but depends on check-in staff. I would ask for a supervisor if they try to fob you off!
