Hello,

Which card will be best (both for the purchase and any sign up bonus) for a $10k payment (not ato/govt/utilitity etc).

Only visa/mc allowed.

All my points at the moment are either velocity or krisflyer.

Thoughts??

Take a look at St. George Amplify Signature Visa. Earns the equivalent of 0.75 VA/SQ miles per dollar spent, boosted to 0.825/$1 thanks to a 10% birthday bonus on all our points earned in the last 12m, awarded in the month of your birthday. $279 fee, no points capping/tiering and a bonus of 30k Amplify points after spending $2500, which convert 2:1 to VA and SQ (=15k VA/SQ miles).

That would give you 23,250 VA or SQ miles all up from the $10k spend: that's 2.325 miles per dollar spent. ;)

Sorry - forgot to add!!!

Currently got the Citibank signature on a fee free for life and westpac black altitude card (amex/visa combo)

If you happen to be interested in branching out to QF (which I suppose I don't really recommend, but anyway...) the HSBC Platinum Qantas card offers 1pt/$ up to $2500 per month and 0.5pt/$ afterwards, as well as a 60,000 pt bonus after $3000 spend, for annual fee of $199. So 66250 points all up.

For VA/SQ - ANZ Rewards Platinum offers 1 ANZ point/$ == 0.5 VA points/$ or 0.33 SQ pts/$ - I'm not aware of a cap. Plus 50,000 pts == 25,000 VA points / ~17,000 SQ points signup bonus. So total of 30,000 VA points for $95 annual fee. If you splurge on the Rewards Black you'll get a 75,000 pt = 37,500 VA pt bonus and 1.25 pts = 0.625 VA points per $, so 43,750 VA points all up, but that may not be worth the $375 annual fee, you'll have to judge the other benefits for yourself.

I haven't used this card so this ist an endorsement but I'm also looking for a VA-bonus card and considering the Virgin Money Velocity High Flyer. Up to 50K bonus pts, awarded 10K per month on a $3,000 min spend per month. 1 VA pt per $ spend up to 10K a month. Potentially 60K pts, if you have sufficient spend for successive months.

Annual fee $289.
