Etihad's free chat is only for Etihad Guest members, but that membership doesn't have to be in your booking. You can even sign up when you connect. (FA told me that's a recent addition and one she was clearly thankful of. I guess passengers got a bit cranky when the system told them there was a freebie for members but you had to have internet access to join.)

stupid question: i get the situation where the codeshare arrangement meant you cant log in with your qantas ID for finnair or emirates metal, (it will be interesting with QF's intercontinental flight with wet lease Finnair metal and crew) but what if you simply log in with finnair plus, or skywards for emirates, regardless of how or who you pay for the tickets?

obviously you need to have the relevant ff account before you try this but most ff program are free to joinanyway (other than some poor souls who paid $99 for QFF these days

On my recent Finnair flight, there wasn't an option to enter your Finnair Plus number - rather, you needed to enter your seat number and surname. Since my seat/surname wasn't matched to a Finnair Plus number linked to my booking, it didn't let me go any further.

The same thing happens if you're a Velocity Platinum member flying VA Y, but you have an AC or SQ (for example) frequent flyer number on your boarding pass.

I used Qff points to book EK First and couldn't change the FF number myself, neither did the check-in agent or the agent in the F lounge... anyone had a workaround? Couldn't register new Skywards on the plane either as my name is already signed up. But there's no way.
