You may have seen that Etihad announced a range of changes to its frequent flyer program last week.

On the same day, it appears that Etihad Guest increased the number of miles required for short-haul Business and First Class redemptions on all partner airlines, including Virgin Australia, by up to 150%. No notice was given to members of these changes.

Details here:

Australia's highest-earning Velocity Frequent Flyer credit card: Offer expires: 30 Apr 2025
- Earn 100,000 bonus Velocity Points
- Get unlimited Virgin Australia Lounge access
- Enjoy a complimentary return Virgin Australia domestic flight each year

At the same time they decreased the amount of miles needed on EY metal for many routes and blocked other FFP’s from accessing EY awards until 30 days out.
Pretty obvious that they are trying to get Guest FF’s to use miles on their own flights
