Some good fares still available, for various travel dates in 2024.

Can leave from BNE, SYD or MEL, flying QR to Doha and then AY (QR codeshare) to HEL.

I can't seem to find the same fares available from ADL or PER, but there is a similarly-priced option flying ADL-SIN-HEL with the first leg on SQ and second on AY. Beware that the Australia-SIN flight might book into Y in some cases with that fare.

That’s a decent fare !

Given Turkish 🇹🇷 hit the scene, there must be some downward pressure on J

I’m wondering if there’ll be a European Red Tail sale shortly (given we’ve had the Aust, USA and Asian since the double credits campaign)

Hmm but can we get Qsuites ....

Been playing around on google flights and findings flights good for my dates around 5.3k but there's a gotcha - a lot of them have the first leg to Asia in Y! Heck no. So buyer beware there - not seen that before.

Wouldn’t be confident booking via smartfares though

ITA Matrix lets you filter out those nasty little surprises! I've got quite excited several times searching only to be disappointed...

I spied an awesome fare BKK-HEL-LIS for around A$3.6k. HEL-LIS is also 2000mi so that's my 140TP sweetspot right there.

The only trouble is getting to BKK before 0700 - I have an 0500 arrival into KUL and I don't think I have enough time to get to BKK in time.

If you flew to Bangkok the day before and book an airport hotel for the night, it would work.

The QR fares ex BNE, SYD and MEL are in J all the way. You might be looking at a Finnair fare?

Just be wary that if crediting to QF you will get royally screwed on SC’s. If however you credit to a decent OW FFP you will get a fair return
Unless you’re flying ex PER…(or even ADL for that matter).

Since that fare is like 50-60% of QF own J class
I’m hardly surprised the earn SCs aren’t as stellar as their very own

I’m still hopeful a Euro Ref Tail J sale might drop after the Asian one ends on the 18th

Except partner earn for a particular fare class is independent of actual price paid.

eg the same fare bucket to LHR could still be similar or more than QF.

Unless the QF website is on the blink

ADL-DOH is 90SC’s in J on QR
ADL-DXB is 190SC’s in J on EK with QF number (when EK returns to ADL)

PER-DOH is 120SC’s in J on QR
PER-DXB is 150SC’s in J On EK with QF number

and QR ex SYD/MEL/BNE? Simpler and Fairer…😔

80SC’s in J on QR
190SC’s in J on EK codeshare
The ex-PER SC earn was / is a weird anomaly in the S&F tables. Quite different to the general 50% earn from Oz to/from Asia.

There was a time you could book direct with QR SYD/MEL-PER on QF (code) and PER-DOH-xx_ (QR code). I assume that hack is now a VA sweet spot (I’ve not looked recently).
Punished for flying with another OW airline ☹️
QF would argue that you’re being rewarded flying QF marketed flights… Which would have been true if they’d just implemented the bonus earn on higher QF fares (introduced as part of S&F) and not slashed the partner earn at the same time….

well, the Red Tail Fare did drop (expires tonight) and the pricing remains ridiculously high from Sydney

London (Heathrow)

Paris

First from Sydney

London (Heathrow)

one can get from Adelaide to many parts of Europe with Turkish for around $5,800
and there's been a JAL F fare that I had my eye on which wasn't exactly that much more than that QF Paris J fare
