From today, Qantas will now let you purchase Qantas Club membership on a rolling 28-day subscription. You need to pay the $129 joining fee + $99 for every 28 days, but can cancel at any time.

The annual subscription still works out much cheaper overall (especially if you use the AFF discount on 1, 2 or 4 year memberships) but this could be useful if you'll be doing a bunch of travel over a short period. It reminds me of the old 30-day Admirals Club passes that American Airlines used to sell.

This option does not include access to partner lounges or associated lounges, nor does it include any guest allowance. You do get the additional checked baggage allowance benefit on Qantas flights until March 2025.

Qantas has unveiled a new “flexible” pass for its luxury airport lounges for a staggeringly cheap price tag – just months after announcing annual memberships would be hit with a 17 per cent price hike.
The new Qantas Club Flexible allows customers to pay for 28-day access to the branded lounges, with the Flying Kangaroo claiming the subscription is a way of offering “flexibility” and a choice to enjoy access to the lounges on an “ad-hoc basis”.

Currently, an annual Qantas Club membership costs from $699, with a one-off joining fee from $129.

The Qantas Club Flexible membership costs just $99 a month – plus the one-off joining fee of $129 – and auto-renews every 28 days.

Qantas moving to a subscription model. Suits those who sign up and forget /don't care to cancel. A nice earner for QF without providing much extra at all.

I wonder how much would a typical QC visit cost the company? I.e. how many visits are needed in a month until QF exhausts the $99 income received?

Interesting question, given that they'd still be making bank on ticket revenue the majority of the time, I'd imagine.

I don’t have any specific insight into this but honestly doubt it. These kinds of discounts are generally only on annual memberships.

That said (and I'm not defending them. Qantas need a solid back alley kicking to sort themselves out), for a family of four going off on a holiday once a year, it'd be a lot quieter and less painful to sign up for this than suffer the blech environs that is somewhere like MEL T2.

Unless you are a solo traveller doing a large amount of flying over 2 or 3 month period then cancelling, I really don't see how anyone could see the value in this.

- Need to repay $129 joining fee if you cancel and rejoin after 90 days
- No extra baggage allowance after March next year
- No guest allowance
- No partner lounge access
- Almost double the price of the standard membership when annualised

As an Australian living overseas who visits Australia about once a year, it's better for me to sign up for Qantas Club Flexible and just pay for the month that I am in Australia rather than for the entire year. So I'll definitely be signing up for it before my next trip to Australia.

I assume you're not Platinum 1 anymore as noted in your profile then . Do you do enough domestic flying on one visit to make that worthwhile?

The Qantas Club flexible membership also includes international Qantas lounges, so it's definetly worth it you fly Qantas to Australia.

If you have QC through PC+ and this was about to end could you technically just pay for the additional 28days without having to pay the joining fee?

That works for regular Qantas Club (it just counts as a renewal), so I assume it does for PC+ too

I'm also an Australian living overseas and at first thought that this would be just the thing if I lose my Gold-level status. But I visit twice a year, and 2 x $228 isn't worth it. Pity.

While PP might be cheaper, there aren't exactly domestic lounges to use with a PP membership.
