If we already have the Volare Executive status , does this status match give any added benefits ? We have a flight to Vietnam in December and also some internal flights. I was planning to use my Volare Executive status for benefits , so weighing the benefits of getting the status match. Thanks

If you fly on VNA then it's definitely added benefits - access to domestic lounges and double the Lotusmiles you get for later flight rewards.

Thanks for your response.

Does that mean ITA Volare status won't get us access to VNA domestic lounges ?

SkyTeam doesn’t offer lounge access on standalone domestic flights. Has to be part of an international itinerary.
Has been talk for ages that SkyTeam will fall in line with the other alliances but I wouldn’t hold my breathe.

I heard it will allow domestic lounge access starting mid-2025 after getting approval from all SkyTeam airlines.

I occasionally fly with VN airline but paying 159US$ or 299 US$ to get lounge access isn't attractive at all. the money can be used toward an upgrade to J. VN airline lounges in Hanoi and HCM city are ok but also rather basic, far below the first class version here in Sydney/Melbourne or the Al Mourjan Business Lounge in Doha.

imho, Airlines in Vietnam do not seem to have a good pricing strategy, some products are below real value, some are ridiculously expensive like this status match. if the purpose is to get more business, remove the fee component.

The article makes reference to ITA and it ceasing it's promotion. ITA as of 01 Sept will joining Star Alliance thus are leaving SkyTeam. I'm not sure what happens to those already holding elite status. Assume they will transfer to Star Alliance. If so, this offer might be worthy to maintain SkyTeam status.

I'm considering this status match. I looked everywhere I could for an answer. How would Lotus Gold members be treated at the lounge with their 2 children? Couldn't get a definitive answer. does anyone know if they can bring their kids in who are also travelling on the flight? Cheers

Do you have a source for the 1 September date? I have not heard this.

SAS will leave Star and join SkyTeam on 1 Sept.

Mattg..yes apologies. Getting confused with SAS and the other way. ITA more likely 2026/7?

It's not just about lounges, but it will include SkyPriority benefits including Fast-track Immigration, Boarding, Check-in & Baggage similar to flying on Business. And you get it for 1 year straight.

I personally think children below 2 years old will be free. Otherwise you can redeem your miles for lounge - Redeem Business Lounge award | Lotusmiles | Vietnam Airlines.

It can be redeemed at the lounge.

Remember, you will need to add the children to the Nominee List inside your Lotusmiles account.

Just noticed this on ET (an ad - looked like a story) :) . Reasonably interested as I'm vaguely contemplating doing some SkyTeam flying next year. That is, until I saw the fees: US$100- $300 !! Ya kidding me.

The last status match I noticed (and took up) run by Statusmatch.com was for LATAM and fallible memory thinks it was ~US$80 for a Plat match.
