Locking the J toilet door

Most don't say anything about J /F loos being reserved for like passengers. Certainly nothing in QF which is what this post started with.

I'm not sure there's marketing about the Qantas F lounge toilets either but it just goes without saying that because they are wholly contained within the exclusive area (lounge/cabin) they are for those with access to that exclusive area.

Again, no issues if you specifically need to use those toilets because a cart is in the way etc and you ask, but you've also been saying pax can use any toilet; and since the title of this thread is about the toilets being locked, if those pax are asking they're either being told yes and having the door unlocked, or no and being sent back. So should be no complaints about the J toilet being locked, unless it's J pax complaining that the FA isn't being attentive when they've attempted to use (which hasn't been suggested).

I don’t know why the lyrics to the song The Beauty of Gray, by Live (1991), seem so fixed in my mind this morning…

As someone who rarely travels in J and spends 99 percent of the time slumming it with the cattle down back, I fully support that i should not be allowed to be up in J using that toilet for the simple fact that I didn't pay to be in that space and those sitting in that cabin did.

If Y pax want to use the front lav, there is a simple way, buy a ticket/use points for that cabin like the ones sitting up chose to do.

If i ever found myself in a 'more urgent' situation I would always politely and respectfully ask a crew member first for permission and respect the decision they make either way.

I think the solution is that if you want all loos to be available to everyone regardless of ticket price, you have a clear option which is to fly Jetstar, which for narrow bodies being economy-only, would have more loos per economy passenger by a significant factor!

QF 737-800 - 162 economy = 81 per loo
JQ A320 - 180 economy = 60 per loo
