If this proceeds will it be the first regular scheduled service between Cebu and Australia? I can’t remember from too long ago, but IIRC PAL and Cebu Pacific have only ever operated between MNL and Australia.

IIRC did PR operate CEB-SYD for a short time in the 90s (or possibly late 80s) before their first restructuring (Equivalent of Australia's Voluntary Administration) in the late 90s. IIRC it was one of the older A330s.

The CEB-SYD service I would assume didn't last very long.

Airline Secrets Exposed on Facebook seems to have dropped the proposed timings (guessing they have a source for these and not made up):

For anyone that knows about going to and from MNL (NAIA), that departure from MNL is a killer (gonna hurt checking out of hotels for that), but I suppose for those that religiously get to the airport with plenty of time to spare, they should beat the traffic.

Never thought I'd get excited about a JQ flight, but having a place in Central Visayas, I'd be all over this vs transiting via MNL (I don't, I just fly CEB via SIN, which are mostly LCCs anyway). Bring it on.

To be honest, CEB would've been another ideal hub for self-connections from JQ to either 2P (PR Express) or 5J.

Personally I think it's a shame 2P ended flights to LAO and BAG (Northern Parts of Luzon Island) from CEB as it would've been a great alternative over going through the zoo that is MNL.
