Hi,

Can't find definitive answer to this so hoping someone could help:

I have an itinerary with the following (booked with QF):
JL518 Economy
QF60 Business

Qantas app says unable to show baggage information for both legs. I am QF silver and Ms ffq is QF bronze.

Am I right in thinking that I get 52 kg and Ms ffq get 40 kg unlimited pieces as per here:

And does my JL518 flight have the same luggage allowance as my QF60 flight? Otherwise there are 2x references to JL's luggage allowance here:
Domestic: https://www.jal.co.jp/jp/en/dom/baggage/checked/
If part of an international flight ticket: https://www.jal.co.jp/jp/en/inter/baggage/checked/

As it's a connecting flight, just wanting to ensure that I am not over with the domestic leg, happy to stick with the JL518 limits if they're different.

Thank you very much

ffq

Nope, QF extra allowances (that aren't part of the wider oneworld benefits) such as QF Silver or QF Club only apply to Qantas operated flights.

Being the same ticket QF becomes the most significant carrier and therefore their luggage allowance applies to both flights which is 40kg for business class. With two passengers travelling on the same ticket these allowances are pooled so technically you'll have 80kg between you to check in unlimited pieces.

Otherwise there are 2x references to JL's luggage allowance here:
Domestic: https://www.jal.co.jp/jp/en/dom/baggage/checked/
If part of an international flight ticket: https://www.jal.co.jp/jp/en/inter/baggage/checked/
Ignore these as that's for people booking JL tickets.

As your ticket is a single ticket, the IATA most significant carrier rule is in force - in this case it's QF standard luggage allowance for each class

40kg for both passengers total 80kg for the JL. Unlimited pieces.

The 52kg allowance for the Silver pax is only valid for QF60 and not the JL sector. Though you can add extra 12kg when you get to HND
