Visiting Pattaya

Myself and +1 are planning a visit to Pattaya. We are in the area for approx 8 days and we feel thats too long just to be in Pattaya. Has anyone got another place, close by to spend a couple of nights. We will not have transport so that will be a big thing when deciding

What about a grab or bus from Pattaya to Bangkok. The train trip to the River Kwai Bridge is interesting, don't expect soft seats but it's an experience with lots to see, overnight at Kanchunburi.
