Good morning,
Im flying out Jetstar from MEL to PER bur have lounge passes for the Qantas domestic.

As my flight is closer to midnight and Jetstar donw allow baggage to be dropped until 2hrs before flight, can I bring it with me to the lounge?

Are the there any restrictions on what can be in my bags?

Thank you!

The Qantas lounge is in the secure area of T1 so you need to meet the normal carryon security restrictions - no lighters, sharp objects; aerosols and large electronics separated out, etc. The X-ray machines are not setup for large luggage so you may find you are refused if your luggage is larger than standard carry-on size - as they know you can't bring it onto the plane. But if you manage to get past security you will be okay to take it into the lounge itself.

Also, be sure your lounge passes are linked to your itinerary well in advance. At times there can be difficulties linking Jetstar flights.

Also the last QF flight out of MEL can be relatively early (e.g. 9PM to SYD), so the QF lounge closes at 8.40PM.

Thank you all for your replies, it absolutely shines a light on the dilemma with Jetstar and Qantas flights.
Will see what happens during the day.

is the one on the international arrivals land side area at Melbourne closed?
It looks like SmarteCarte is still operating. I've used them a few times when I had to leave bags at the airport when ducking into town for meetings, and then coming back out for flights. Their website says they're open from 6am to midnight, so that should do the trick.

I just did a quick google and was going to say I found a solution.
Ill just store my bags, by 9pm its time to drop off luggage so I'll leave, pick up from the storage place, drop bag and slowly walk to gate day saved 🥰
Thank you so much for all your help!

Its a pain in the prosterior to duck into the QFd MEL T1 QP and then come out and have to walk to T4.
If you don't have premium security screening access, it means that you have to line up with the long queue, (unloading coins, putting HLO and keys etc onto the tray, go through T1 dom screening to get to the lounge, maybe at 6.30pm, for dinner.
Then go out into the public area, trudge to dom screening (to be screened again) at T4 for the JQ flight.
Not so bad if there was, but of course, there is no internal walkway (inside the dom security screening area) from T1 to T4.
Probably might take a walk of at least 10mins/15 mins after coming out of the lounge, to get to T4.
But I guess, to each their own.

Backup option : the 24 hour lockers, ground floor of multi-storey car park adjacent MEL T4, priced similar to the above attended T2 landside baggagestorage facility.
