I just received the above off by email.

It is a good offer. It is just a pity that it does not close closer to the SQ Elite Gold Status offer (28 Feb).

Hmmm....I was planning to TF 500K from St George Amplify at end Feb 2022 to get 250K miles and KF Elite Gold to get a 6 monrh extension of my KF miles....this will now be a dilemma!

You could transfer just short of the 250K now to get the 15% bonus now, and the rest in Feb to get Gold (Note to earn from a bank transfer it must achieve a minimum 10K of KF points landing in your account per transaction).

Though my dilemma is that I will want to transfer a lot more now!

Though Gold now would still cover when I might need to get a points extension mid-2022 which is the main thing I might really use the gold for.

I have a lot of Amex oz miles.

Have never transferred them to KF .... can some kind soul please advise the normal rate i.e. what a million AX points gets, to which 15% is added for a short while. Thanks. :D

A lottery of course hoping seats will be left in the system as there is a vast pent-up demand to FLY from everyone soon!!

What kind of point level does it take SYD-Europe in Biz or First if they have seats?

116K = one way to Europe in J Saver. There is also the more expensive Advantage level.
Just double for return.
Istanbul is cheaper.

The normal transfer rate is below (ie add on 15%)

And yes many of us have already booked for 2022, and there is less availability than there was. Especially for Saver. F Savers were rarer again.

However SQ will probably open up more routes as 2022 progresses.

Superb details - thanks lovetravellingoz :D

Thanks for heads up on IST. Love that place.

The Turkish Airlines lounge there was way superior to anything I've ever seen, and I've seen an awful lot.

SQ pax will use that too I assume, as they are Star Partners still I hope, so something to look forward too.

Be interesting to see how tight SQ are on award inventory going forward. a delicate juggling act for them!

Silly question - does SQ let all pax select seats on Biz awards? Travelling as a couple, central seats 11 and 19 on A350 etc, I'd grab if at all available, but have no SQ status and those kind of rows they often block for their own Elites.

SQ says all Biz pax can select seats on booking, but have no idea if they block those kind of bulkheads for PPS or release on day of flight etc?

We were in Greece prior to the pandemic and our flight back was via IST. And yes we enjoyed the lounge with its a variety of different food stations.

With some redemptions to Europe we will only use SQ metal. Other times we will redeem as a *A with the main flights on SQ, but with an additional flight to get to/back from the city we want to. So last time we went to Europe it was SQ to Munich and the Croatia Airline to Spilt, Croatia. Then local arrangements finishing in Athens, with out *A return on Turkish to IST and then SQ back to MEL.

Generally with our European trips we will book one ways so that we fly in and out of different cities/countries.

Yes you choose as part of the booking process.

I have no status as virtually all my longhauls are redemptions. By booking early we as a couple normally get the seats we prefer in J/F including with J bulkheads when desired.

It is first in first served. So if you cannot find what you want it will because someone else has already booked them.

Saver J's are normally fairly easy to obtain if you book early. The Advantage rate allows later booking.

Much more competition for the Saver F's which are much more limited as the F cabins have less seats than J. So less F seats are made available.

As above.

or release on day of flight etc?

More availability often can occur later. If flight are initially booked out you often can waitlist. These may or may not clear. Sometimes this can happen early in the piece, and sometimes within the last two weeks.

I prefer certainty and so mainly booked confirmed seats. However if the flight is not quite ok, and a waitlisted flight is I will book both and if the waitlist clears, then just cancel the confirmed booking.

Cancellation fees are now more than they once were though. Quite possibly as many were doing this, along as some people also were making multiple bookings as placeholders (ie Booking several flights a year out if you were not completely sure what your timeline was, and then cancelling the ones not required once you knew).

From memory, SQ only allow stopovers on return flights, and a max of six sectors on a ticket.

Free stopovers vary by type of redemption and if one-way/return. Paid stopovers are also possible though.

I was just referring to flying in and out of different parts of Europe to avoid back tracking on my trips. Indeed for European redemptions I am yet to book a return flight out of one city as.

So after arriving it is cycle, train, ship, ferry, fly and/or hire car from where I fly in, to where I fly out.

ie My more European trips have been:
  • In Spilt, out Athens . Croatia, Bosnia, Croatia -small ship cruse- Greece
  • In London, out Copenhagen (*A with J to Frankfurt and then F to MEL) Trip was England, Scotland, Ireland, Ship visit remote islands off the UK coast, Enland, Norway, Sweden Denmark.
  • In Paris, out Rome
  • In Zurich, out Frankfurt
  • In London, out Amsterdam
I rarely book a stopover for my Europe trips. Though when transiting thru SIN one can normally book very long transits which provide a mini free stopover, that allow one to sleep over at a hotel and/or go into Singapore for half-day.

Indeed as time is not an issue for me these days I will normally try and time my F/J flights so that I can fly mainly during the day so that I can maximise the enjoyment of the flight. (ie Day flight to SIN, sleep in a hotel, then day flight to Europe) To me flying out of SIN at midnight is a waste of F and I would only book a J if I have to fly then as a large chunk of the flight you are just sleeping and after midnight I do not want to eat and drink, and so F just for breakfast is for me a waste. Coming back it will often be a lunchtime departure and sleep last part of flight. Then day flight back to MEL. I avoid the overnight SIN-MEL flights.

So upset at missing this bonus that I have just cancelled my Citibank credit card. I am now further aggrieved that I can;t transfer my remaining points to SQ as there is a minimum transfer amount of 20,000 points which they did not advertise.

Not on one way Star Alliance redemptions.

Hi all, there was some promo (maybe in US only) about converting 250k bank points to KF to achieve Alliance Gold status. Does anyone know if this is available for OZ as well? f it is available, is it only from 1 eligible or can it be eg from a bank and Amex ? Sorry if this has been posted previously or is in the wrong place.

It is available for Australians and is still open. See the thread on it at SQ offering status without flying

IME R11 is normally blocked out and is available for PPS and solitaire members of the KF program. On some other SQ flights I have also noticed that R12 may not be available to all, I first noticed this on the SQ ULH configurations. When selecting seats LAX-SIN I (SQ *G) could select R12 however Mrs&MissM only had access to R14 and back. Not a big issue I just selected R12, the rest of the family in R14 and 15 and once on board shuffled around.

I think some seats can sometimes be blocked for crew/ crew rest. Or at least I have noted that a seat could not be booked and when flying it has been used by a crew member.

I've gone through the thread and it doesn't specifically reference the 250k amount of banks/cc points. Is it 250k KF points that has to be achieved or 250 bank/cc points and does it all have to be transferred in one hit or can it be in lots?

To reach Elite Gold you need 50K Elite Miles. For Silver 25K Elite miles

The promo allows you to earn Elite Miles in extra ways including by transfer of points from banks.

From bank transfers,1 Elite mile is earnt for every 5 KrisFlyer miles converted. Hence 250K of KF points arriving will generate 50K Elite miles to gain Gold.

Note that bank award programs are different in the value of KF points and so you what need to reach 250K of arrived KF point will vary by bank.
