150 SCs

Sorry for another SC thread, but this forum is so useful and their are so many great minds.
With future travel booked before my review date, I need another 150 SCs to requalify for Gold. I do most of travel self-funded and have Gold to be incredibly useful for Lounge access and for the 'fly ahead' perk.
I also have a Virgin Aus flit in Y+ booked from MEL to LAX return later in the year booked with points and Gold status would be handy fr Lounge access. I also have a few Delta flights booked within the US on that trip and the longe access would also be handy.
Was lloking at J Mel-per to try out the A330 but even with the discounted fares, it's still a hefty $1718 for 160 SCs.
So I thought of Mel-Dar, one way in discount economy for 30 SCs and one way in J for 120 SCs (am i readng that right with the ponts earning capability?). One way is $158 ona special Y fare and back is $899 in J on May 26. Alternatively it's $899 there and $203 back.
My question is am I calculating this right? Have never done a SC run before and want to know if I have this darn thing right?
It seems a cheaper option than Per.

One other thing to consider is buying the delta lounge accesses separately? Isn't it something like $27 a pop? Ok, so you wont get access in Mel, but Maybe cheaper than spending $1100+?

I don't think Virgin are selling individual lounge entries, but for a Velocity Silver member annual membership is $300 - but you don't get the fly ahead benefit nor international lounge access.

One of the cheaper ways to 150 SCs from VIC would be 5 return flights to OOL - 15 SCs a flight, and regularly on sale for around $88 each way. I'm sure there are far better ways than this though.

And to answer the OP's question, Melbourne to Darwin is 1955 miles so 20 SCs in discount economy, 80 in J - unless you've received the double SC offer.

Ye gads. Thanks for pointing that one out. I was mistaking KMs for miles!!!!!!!!! Lucky I didn't book Darwin on a whim.

It's $50 for Delta Sky Passes, but you can pick them up on ebay for half that.
I know it's not a clincher, but Gold status for a big OS trip, might come in handy if there are full yields as well. Again, not a clincher but handy.

It was a targetted promotion as far as I'm aware - so no email - no double SCs.

Check your most recent Velocity email statement too, I think if you had the offer it will be mentioned on there too.

No bingo! Seems I missed out.
Looks like I am destined to be demoted to Silver and splitting my travel between DJ and QF on what's best available at the time.
