Will be taking my girls on AA on this sector in December. A brief review of FF comments on AA doesn't suggest a fabulous experirence in AA 1st class compared to other Asia 1st class offerings. Any comments would be appreciated?

Haven't done F on AA yet but my expectations when I am on AA are low. The J class on Trans Atlantic flights isn't great. Done a quick check on Airliners.net and the seat looks ok... And as only UA and AA do this sector direct there is not much options around.

Have just done JFK-NRT in AA F.Have also done DFW-FRA,DFW-NRT,JFK-LHR and NRT-LAX in AA F in their 777s.
I like it.I prefer this to F in QF's 747s.Not flown the 380.
The seat suits me better than others I have tried.IFE has improved a lot since my first AA F international in 2007.
Food-certainly not the greatest but isn't bad either.
Service-always been good for me.In fact the best FA we have ever had was on the JFK-LHR sector.
Seats-we choose 3D,G now as you are reasonably close-and I still enjoy talking to mrsdrron. Also FEBO does not come into play as only row 4 behind you and in front 1A,2A are crew rest seats so taken out of the equation.

good feedback. my girls are 10& 13 what seat configureation whould you suggets for the three of us
I also have done many QF 747 first class trips (not 380 yet), but think the seats are getting very tired now, even though dooners are good

My advice would be to take the D & G seats, with an A seat in the same row, so you are effectively sitting 3 abreast.

I've always enjoyed my Flagship experiences. I find the seat extremely comfortable in the sitting position, although less-so when flat. The food and service will be friendly and homely, unlike the more refined experiences of CX, QF etc.

Accept it for what it is, and all will be fine.

I'd agree with Hawkeye though either window would be OK.
One little suggestion-are either of your girls able to draw?American women tend to love kids-and older AA FAs are no exception.I have surrogate grandkids. When we were all travelling in the US together they were down at the back of the bus.Service was patchy but Miss 8 drew a picture of the FAs and giving it too them said it was because they were so nice.Service changed dramatically with the parents being supplied complimentary wine from the F cabin. One of the Y FAs came up to us in F complimenting us on our delightful grandkids.
The other thing is that I am not surprised some F pax dont have a great time-they can be so demanding and aggressive-the FAs respond.A few kind words never go astray-I would term this-"the bossreggie effect".

I actually enjoy AA F (apart from the "Champagne"). The seats are good. I use my own IFE any way so that doesn't worry me too much.
