I've booked my annual international trip and one again I'm full of questions due to inexperience with these things. I'm flying SYD-xLHR-GLA return. With QF and BA. This was booked by the corporate TA and I have the booking showing on the qantas website unde the reference that the TA provided. However, there is also another booking reference for the same trip showing in My Bookings on the qantas website.

There are some difference in these bookings the official one has all my seats correctly selected on both QF and BA, but will not allow me to select seats, only to select a preference for aisle or window. The second booking only has only 1 seat selected on one of the BA flights. But it will let me do seat selection on the QF flights, including displaying a seat map with the selected seats on the other booking blocked. But will only let me do a seat preference on the BA flights.

Any thoughts about what is going on with this? Is the second booking a BA version?

On a related note, I'm booked on QF1 and 2 between SYD and LHR, it is saying that the flight is via SIN. Now there is some guy on Facebook who claims the QF maintenance schedule shows that QF will no longer fly SIN-LHR in 2012. I think they are confused with BKK and HKG. Any thoughts about this suggestion? Or ways to check it?

Can't help with the jest part of our post.

QF1/2 is re-routing from SYD-BKK-LHR to be SYD-SIN-LHR shortly. The existing QF31/32 will no longer operate that route. So perhaps the Facebook claim is about QF31/32 no longer operating SIN-LHR rather than QF no operating it.

I have the same, for a booking PER-SIN-LHR-FRA r/t

Best I can tell is that the only difference between the two is one lists the BA flight number, whereas the other shows the QF codeshare. Putting the reference in to checkmytrip and ba.com shows the same thing as qantas.com.

It hasn't been ticketed yet so I can't fiddle around with seat selection.

This is what I suspect, a bit of confusion about QF31/32 being taken off and not realising that QF1/2 are moving on. Just this person is adamant, creating self doubt.

Thanks! That makes sense as the second booking lets me select seats on the one BA flight that is booked on the QF codeshare. I didn't get around to check my trip

The double reference in Manage My Booking always seems to crop up for me also when there's a mix of QF/BA flights/flight numbers, when booked both through BA and QF. The ticketing carrier would be the one to go to to confirm your seat requests (either online or by phone).

Actually, as a statused passenger, selecting seats useing BA.com for the BA flights was far more useful with a greater range of seating available - the selections stuck too.

Certainly would not be the first time someone on Facebook (or insert any other social media attracting "experts") has been wrong.

QF has announced they are dropping some london service, such as HKG-LHR and substituting with BA codeshares. But they have not announced any intention to drop SIN-LHR to be operated as QF1/2 and QF9/10. So unless this Facebook expert knows something that QF has not announced, then I see no cause for concern.

I guess this is done with one of the 2 PNR that I have? The TA has got me in 2C and 3C so far. I was hoping those would stick, but always up for increasing my chances.

Claims to have seen the maintenance and aircraft movement schedule for 2012. It's on Facebook I'll just ignore it.

Strange. QF codeshares?

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

Yeah, QF codesharing on Air Pacific.
