I have a booking coming up (well in March actually) on QF5 SYD-SIN, and have been allocated a seat in the front row of economy.

Does anyone know if, on the 2 class 744's operating this service, whether there are "cutouts" in the bulkheads? I need my space to stretch my legs, even if my knees are being squashed by a recliner, I'd rather that to having nowhere to strech out my legs, and on some aircraft the bulkheads can be pretty tight when it comes to legroom. I'm thinking to be on the safe side, I may reallocate to the second row of Y :!:

I have looked at the row 26 seats and at 6', would be quite happy to sit in one.

There is an angled 'indent' in the base of the bulkhead giving additional legroom of around 20cm.

I have actually pre-allocated row 26 seats several times over the years, only to get upgraded one way or another.

I actually sat in the front row on QF5 to Frankfurt. It was heavenly!

First of all, we were on the right hand side of the aircraft (so not in the centre where the babies were). They don't have baby carriers on the right (and I assume the left) hand side. The seats are slightly in front of the middle seats, so we weren't bothered by the two babies there at all.

Finally, there was an amazing amount of leg room. I went PE once and it felt like I had the same amount of legroom. The bulk head gets to about knee height before angling towards the front of the plane giving more room (does that make sense?)

I am 184cm's, so leg room is precious to me.

I know exactly what you're talking about when it comes to the angled indent, and it is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks both of you for the help.

FWIW, my last few (and next) QF intl flights were on A330's and I was allocated front row on a couple of them as well, but moved in advance, as I didn't want to take the risk. On those aircraft, glad I moved as they did not have the indent or cutouts, and there was no way one could stretch out in front row on the A330.

Row 26 on 744 is great.
Seat H/K hepas more leg room.
Id fly this any day.
Plus the front cabin area 3 or soemthing rowss seems very private as long as you dont get any screaming babies in the bassinet positions.
:D

Not sure about the 2-class. But the 4-class config row 40 is wonderful. I could not touch the bulkhead with my legs unless really slouching.

Yeh my partner had row 40 on the 4 class once, was impressed, maybe I should spend the 2500 pts and try and change to QF31 if it ever comes available, and row 40 is still free :D
